In the wilderness, the darkness is ever present. Few travelers dare to roam through this lawless land. Those who manage to return alive, reap the highest of rewards. Loot is plentiful, and exotic weapons and armor can be found in the deep levels of the wilderness. Finding exotic loot is not the hard part. You then, have to get out alive. For if you die in the wilderness, you loose everything you found. And you can not respawn. The dangers of the wilderness are numerous. Roaming freely are powerful enemies that even veteran guardians fear. And in the deepest levels are powerful bosses guarding the most exotic loot. But these beasts are the least of your worries. Because the most dangerous enemies of all, are your fellow guardians. The city has no authority here. In the wilderness, guardians hunt each other as they fight on sides of a guerilla war When you die out here, you lose what you have found. And your killer can claim their reward. The wilderness is a ruthless place that tests your ability to survive. Would you dare enter? Note: the wilderness is a specific gametype similar to explore. Update 1: Just at work today I thought up a really interesting idea and some changes to this concept that make this idea work beautifully.i am not sure whether to make a new post or if I should change this one. The basic premise is that the wilderness is the refuge of a exiled guardian whose ghost research was deemed too bold and dangerous. The player would meet this guardian and be forced to decide whether to hunt him down or defend his work. These differing opinions gives rise to two factions that fight in this forsaken wilderness. The Allegient fight his followers known as The Oppulent. After choosing a side it becomes more and more clear that the side you choose is right. After several wilderness missions, you are then told to travel the wilderness and stop the guardians who fight for the other side. I have thought of several ways this could play out. And lots of ideas I haven't mentioned here. I will probably write a new post with the full thing. I think it would make a really interesting layer of depth to the destiny universe. Update 2: While I think this game mode could easily work into the universe with creative storytelling, enough people are still doubtful that I would like to give another alternative. Just as The Crucible is a training excersize, this could be made one as well. Perhaps the you must be tested how to hunt inteligent enimies on a large scale. And in the wilderness, you must face off against other guardians while having to deal with powerful hostile aliens. This option can easily work with the lore, but I think this simulated version would be less thrilling. The idea of a dangerous wild land where you are both the hunter and the hunted is very appealing in my opinion. The mystery and danger would intensify the suspence, and give a very different gameplay than what you are use to. If you have any cool ideas or suggestions, let me know below.

 • Another interesting idea I had was about where you are likley to run into players. Lets say that there are several spawn areas where you can enter into the wilderness. This idea is designed to prevent camping get and at specific areas of the wilderness. I don't know if Bungie has a system already that changes the likelihood of you running into other players. If not I don't think it would be too difficult to implement. At the entrance to the wilderness there are standard enimies and standard loot. by design, it is very unlikely that you will run into other players. As you venture deeper, the enimies are harder and loot slightly more frequent. This is about 5 minutes of walking. You have to glance at you're radar now and then. And you start to worry about other players. Wandering deeper, you've reached the true danger point. A few boss enemies have laires in the area. Your radar blinks red on the edges frequently. You have seen several guardians. Most trying to keep their distance. One tried to kill you. But now, his corpse lays before you. This guardian kill had granted you decent loot. You have done well; but you fear what lies ahead. You have ventured to the next level of the wilderness. Here is where the great loot lies. Patrolls of enemies roam randomly. Several powerful bosses lurk here. While you are in their lairs you rarely see guardians. But this is no safe haven. Powerful enimies push you to your limit. When you defeat bosses, you get valuable or exotic loot. You radar has at least one red ring at all times. By now you have killed several guardians and got even better loot. If you want to keep your loot you must danger all the way back to the begining, or if you dare you can travel further. Entering the last level of the wilderness is suicide. Guardians are everywhere and it is a desperate fight for survival. Swarms of hive run in packs, searching for anyone who isn't fast enough to escape. There are a few legendary bosses here. Manage to kill them and you recieve exotic gear only obtainable by killing that boss. But there is little hope in getting back to the wilderness enterance. The darkness is everywhere. Few venture this far, and live to tell the tale. If you manage to bring back your exotic loot, you have done what was once thought impossible. Your fellow guardians will look at you in awe. You have become legend.
