Don't get the wrong idea I'm all for swords, I love the idea and think it would be a great addition to Destiny. But how would they work? Would it be like the Hunters knife? Where we only see it when you melee or will we be able to use it like in Skyrim?

Edited by DasH: 8/5/2014 11:44:27 AMMaby a sword a shield without a shield your bringing a knife to a gun fight and running at them like the water boy it would be cool with a shield to hold it up while sprinting right click on the analog stick brings up sword and shield plasma sword and jackel shield esq left trigger shield right sword it would only be fair to have to drop shield while sprinting tho or it would be "op" and the whole community would go on a nerf attack people have incorporated shields into shooters cod for example and excell

i originally thought that you can equip different melee weapons, like knife, sword, etc. that's not the case. idk how its would work now. but i do hope it develops.
-
At least we have the hunters blade dancer sub class ;)
-
Only if it's curved swords.
-
No. Just no. The enemies have swords, this works to me, but I just don't see where this fits in with the guardians.
-
2 RepliesBungie lied about swords. There are no swords. Warframe is the only sci fi shooter with swords

Edited by Damon: 8/4/2014 11:30:22 AMSwords? hmmmm sure if done properly, and on a limited basis.

Let's keep the halo sword lunge out of destiny
-
I think they already added swords, or maybe I'm just referring to the melee ability the Hunter has or w/e. Either way yeah they're a good addition imo.

1 ReplyEdited by Prime: 8/4/2014 11:17:16 AMA good model to follow would the the energy sword from the Halo franchise. You equip it and you have a "charge" that gives you a set amount of swings that can one hit kill with in PvP. It also had a longer lunge range and faster swing speed than normal melee. Once the charge is out, you deal normal melee damage and lose the lunge unless you pick up more ammo (I see this being a special weapon not a heavy.) The energy sword in halo worked just like this and it's max charge was 10 kills with it before it was "out of ammo". I could see this somewhat working in destiny.

1 ReplyThe thing is thought that each class has its own melee ability. Titans punch, Warlocks using energy drain, and Hunters stab. Though it would be cool to be able to upgrade (AKA buy new types of) your knife. Maybe a different texture, shape, size, etc.
-
8 RepliesThey should be heavy weapons. Two different types of melee weapons, heavy and light. Light weapons swing fast like the Halo energy sword and kill in two hits. Heavy weapons swing slower and have a bit of a windup, but kill in one hit. And for melee on melee, we should have awesome sword clashes like Halo 3. LT/L2 would be a parry button, but it would be a timed parry to keep sword fights skillful. I can dream...

1 ReplyLike Kirito in sword art online 2 of course!

2 RepliesHow Swords Work: Step one: Equip Sword Step two: Stab/Cut the living shit out of everything. You're now a Blademaster
-
Exactly like in sword art online season 2
-
2 RepliesDefiantly not ass a free weapon you could just use whenever. Though hunters subclass is blade dancer. And i believe an exotic weapon called Plan C you can use the nude at the end of it.
-
Swords would be sweet but only for the hunters BC they are blade dancers.
-
You hit the enemy with the pointy end...
-
Hopefully not like this...
-
Sorry swirve..."the pointy end goes into the bad guy." Good movie.
-
Generally, the pointy end goes towards the bad guy. Then you sort of wave it around 'til things start falling off said bad guy, like arms. In all seriousness though, I don't know, but it would be awesome to have swords anyway. :P

They should work similar to how they do in halo, with the energy swords and gravity hammers. I propose that melee weapons should be element infused heavy weapons like HMGs and rockets. you can still do a normal melee while holding one, but your fire button becomes a slash button, or a smash button etc. and they would work on a similar ammo system to the energy sword and gravity hammer, but be reloadable with some kind of energy cell. So if you don't have ammo, your flaming/ electric/ void-tacular sword would just be a normal sword that does base melee damage.
-
It would be pretty awesome. Hopefully like the covenant sword or something that increases the forward motion when you melee.

Melee Zero from Borderlands 2...by far my favorite first person melee action. I don't think a Skyrim type system for swords fits very well in this type of game.
