The Story Behind the Warlocks and Hunters

So after doing some extensive research I was able to find and piece together the little bit of information that is available and compiled it here for anyone who cares. People have compared the Warlocks to Jedi many times. I feel as though this comparison is more than just a face value accusation of, "Having Powers." The Jedi are Guardians as well. They protect the Republic from the Sith, and have done so for thousands of years. Now, beyond the ability to use "Space Magic" or "The Force" the Jedi are also seekers of knowledge. The Warlocks are cited as, "Warlocks have long studied the Traveler, mastering some of its arcane energies. Its true purpose still remains a great mystery, but discovering truth has always driven you into the unknown. Now, our enemies are the only thing that stands between you and the lost wonders of our Golden Age." The reason I am taking so long on this comparison between Jedi and the Warlocks is simply to study the behaviors of both to explain the feud between the Warlocks and the Hunters. Not much is given to us at this time of why the two parties seem to have the desire to out-do each other at every turn, but if we look at the comparisons and the minuscule amount of lore given to us about the two classes, we can begin to formulate the reasons for the comparisons. The Hunters are the Gunslingers. No doubt that these guys possess a bit of a mean streak about them. Cowboys. One word that describes the attitude that these mean, silent killin' machines exhume. The Hunters are cited as follows, "Hunters once prowled the wilderness and wastelands, taking big risks for even bigger rewards. You're no outlaw—at least, not anymore—but making your own luck has always meant bending the rules. Your unique brand of daring and ingenuity is needed now more than ever." The biggest part of the lore that grabs me the most is the former outlaw being a very prevalent aspect of the Hunter. A non-law-abiding citizen would go against everything that the Warlock stands for. And so, to keep the comparisons in the same universe and flow, Han Solo is the Hunter's comparison. Obi-Wan was reluctant to take up board with this smuggler but in a time of war allies lurk out of even the filthiest places. Solo was all about pleasing himself and making his own luck happen; however Solo played an integral part of the story. Hunters definitely fit into the bigger picture of the Destiny Saga. The Warlocks will be the truth diggers, so to speak, as the Hunters will be aiding them along the way, the more riches they find the happier they will be. This is all of course my interpretation of events that I have seen and read about. In no way is this all concrete. Tell me what you think and let's keep the story growing as part of our Destiny. Always Remember.. Be Brave, Guardians.

  • Nice Although Titans have been hinted as being around for a long time, one of the marks in either the alpha or beta essentially says that when everyone said to hold the defensive line some wanted to make an attack when the enemies least expected it.

    • In my mind picturing what each would be doing in a drop ship preparing for a fight: Hunter-Leaning over, Sharpening his knife with a stone, Warlock-sitting upright and cross legged, flipping through an old tome, Titan-Taking up two seats, loading rounds into a magazine and double checking weapon systems.

    • I am a Warlock. I have unlocked the arcane secrets of the traveler and use them to banish the darkness into oblivion. The Darkness cowers in my shadow, and the innocent stand proud at my back. I protect, I serve, and I will put an end to the Darkness. But what I will not do is claim supremacy. I will not lie, for all my wisdom and determination, a Hunter will always be the first to a fight, and a Titan wont stop fighting until the fighting is done. Though those "bandits" may be unreliable at best, they bring us swift and silent victory. Without Titans we would have been overrun many years ago, for they have a strength and fortitude that we all can aspire too. I am proud, but not only of myself. We are all heroes. Only together can we cast a Light strong enough to break the Darkness. I am a warlock. But we are Guardians.

I'd say the Warlocks and Hunters were good friends in a band together. Then the Warlock started taking over control or wouldn't let the HUnter have a say in the songs they made. So they had a big fight one night and they both split ways. There is always talk of a reunion tour but they hate each other too much. -VH1's behind the music episode 308.5 wed exclusive.

        • Actually, Destiny is just a SciFi take on the movie Warm Bodies. Hero dies - CHECK Hero comes back to life - CHECK Hero fights against enemies like the Bonies (or in Destiny, the Thralls) - CHECK Hero gets the girl - CHE.... err WHAT? Nononononononono Tis true... we all be zombies!

          • i think it is rather more simple than that. The warlock spends his time learning, experimenting and preparing for future, spending tons of time in study and increasing their understanding. As for the hunters they prefer to go figure it out as they go along. Fighting and scoping getting first hand results to their own personal questions. So warlock probably think of them of them as thick headed neanderthals who just run in shooting without any forethought. Making them the exact opposite of warlocks who spend alot of time preparing for encounters and would rather have a thorough understanding of his own circumstances before taking action.

as long as those nerds in the tower continue doing their jobs, and understand that they cannot win this war without us, i won't have a problem with them

The real story behind Warlocks and Hunters? Warlocks are the consultants of the Titans. Hunters are the mail carriers of the Titans. Source: The Speaker

I myself am a Titian. Here's my take on the main personalities of each class. Warlock- Knowledge Seekers. Think knowledge is most important. Hunters- Basically Cowboys.Do what they want. Titian- Military Soldiers. Follow orders, Nothing less.

                      • I think hunters are more smart-asses an that the rivalry between the two is more light-hearted. Look at Cayde-6's personality.

                        • Backstory:For my hunter Arcan Arcan was not my real name but it is the only one i can remember. it was a nickname given to me by other harnesses of the travellers magic.I got the nickname because i could use arc magic in way no one else could (except for the fricking space wizards). I was given multiple chances to join the warlocks in finding out the mysteries of the traveler but i declined every invitation.then there was the collapse every awoken has there story of how they came to be awoken but most warlocks say mine is the most intriguing so here it is. The darkness had already killed most of human civilisation and the darkness was ready to finish us the fallen arrived in old Russia to come and destroy the traveler. After everything it had done for us we could at least do it one favour. To protect it.Using what some people said was my gift i closed my eyes and released arc energy on to my blade i went from fallen to fallen slashing my blade through them. They say never bring a knife to a gunfight but always bring an arc blade to a gunfight.I was ignited in so much arc energy that my skin started to turn blue with energy my eyes white and my face glowing with electric currents. But then suddenly my body couldn't take it any more and i fell to the ground buzzing with arc energy. That is my story whats yours?
