Lust. Pure lust. It's primal, it's capricious, and it happens every day (relentless?). Before I continue I'd like to say I'm jaded on questions like this, not because of anything bad to me happening personally, but only for the reasons listed below. 1) nature: lust is prevalent in nature, it's the guiding force for "survival of the fittest;" in nature, an animal will always go for the "fittest," the alpha- same thing is true for humans, since we've evolved; hence attraction is shown to be primal, formulaic, and arbitrary. 2) attraction: on a societal level, attraction is our aegis, our metric for "love." However, this is only the formula that becomes the capricious agent of lust. In evolutionary biology, there is a theory called the red queen's hypothesis that says the rate of adaption between predator and prey is constantly changing and thus incurs more change. A similar principle guides attraction. Because it's primal and biological, ppl will constantly look for the "alpha" (or the fertile). This makes it arbitrary and capricious. Studies have been conducted that show biological factors are constant even though different cultures define attraction differently. Moreover, one only needs to look at 50ish % divorce rate in the US to know that these capricious agents are at work. 3) the media and society: both feed the primal urge relentlessly, giving it a voracious appetite. This indomitable force shapes many worldviews and have a symbiotic relationship. The images of the media are over sexualised and spill into society, which creates even more over sexualised images. It creates even more lust. This isn't just us- it was true of the Greeks, Romans, Sumerians, Egyptians etc. And yes, even they all had their "morality" problems (pick up Plutarch and prove me right). As long as there is a media, it will influence society and sexuality.

Edited by Predator5791: 7/26/2014 1:19:36 AMThis question is for those who view sex as being both pure lust and pure love (situational). If you're making love to someone whom you cherish and adore, becoming one flesh with them, how special should they feel and how much meaning can there be when you have performed the same act with so many others whom you had little to absolutely no feelings for? How is it that the act of sex, in terms of love, is not devalued when you give your body to so many others? Is not love reserved? So why do you not reserve your body from which you express your love? I'm not necessarily saying that anybody is wrong, I'm just curious about the reasoning.

It's a tool sometimes.

Well you can be sexually aroused by the person you love and a stranger. But sex with someone you love is highly better IMO

Sex to me is like a train derailment... Really loud and destructive forces piling up in a heap of twisted metal.

Hormonal responses.

Im getting the vibe this is because Brad Pitt posted that retarded thread..

There are two types of sex. The one that is just to have sex and get it our of your system, the physical act. Then there's the one that is more than the physical act.
So what does sex mean to you?
Something every Indian guy wants to have with white woman, if he says he doesn't, he's lying. To me sex is a method used to create humans, it's extremely enjoyable (best thing on this planet when doing it with someone you're physically attracted to) but the enjoyment of the activity is also a double edged sword: It's very easy to conceive an unwanted pregnancy if the male is drunk or simply careless. It's a crime if a male does it to a woman who doesn't consent. -
Edited by CAMMCAM: 7/26/2014 12:55:35 AMBoth. I'm not saying it was both every single time I've had sex. Sometimes it's one or the other and sometimes it's both. I've acted on lust more than I've acted on expressing my love though.

Different kinds of sex. There's purely physical sex with a near-stranger and it's worlds away from sex with someone you love. I've had a fair bit of both. Both have their allures, but there's no drug that can surpass the high when you're totally entwined with the one you're in love with. It's probably the most beautiful thing on the planet, and I don't care how gay that sounds.

I believe sex should be reserved for someone you really care about.
