Ok, I had the same exact purview as you did when i first chose the Hunter class. But, the more i played with it and the more i understood it, the more and more i began to see just how potentially powerful the Hunter class can really be. First off, There is a perk in the skill tree which allows each knife kill to Extend the duration of the Golden Gun.Now, if you're wearing armor that stacks strength, your knife charges back pretty fast, stack that with the ability of everytime you pick up ammo it decreases the duration of not only your throwing knife but also your grenade, your throwing knife can potentially recharge in a matter of seconds. Even more so, if you got as far as i did on the skill tree, there is also a perk which gives you 2 throwing knives, thusly doubling extension on your Golden Gun duration. Plus the orbs your teammates produce when performing their specials decreases the charge time for your Golden Gun, Keep an eye out for those orbs, they fall pretty much like candy if you have decent team. Put all that together and you've got yourself a pretty OP class in itself.

  • The range of the Golden Gun is what makes it. Use that to your advantage.

    • If a Warlock or Titan use their ability it will always be for a group. The Hunter is able to take down a maximum of 3 people... And often times, he gets two. Most of the time people use supers on one enemy and this shows that the Hunter is a force to fear. Not all limits are bad...

    • Hunter super works great IMO, it's not meant for wiping out whole teams. Its better used taking out players at range beyond that of Novabomb and the Titan smash. Also it's countdown is a perk not a disadvantage, the other two supers are a 1 time opportunity. With the golden gun I can pick my targets and spread out its effectiveness. Just my opinion though.

    • 5 or 6 shots is way too many. I think the supers are one of the only things balanced in the game, at least in the beta. Most Titan and warlock supers are under 3 kills, they just seem to out perform because of clustered control points.

    • Actually, later upgrades to the golden gun introduce the penetrating bullets, which are able to kill more than one enemy. And I think there is an upgrade that causes a small explosion, which at least would cause damage to sorrounding enemies.

        • Maybe the subclass kick ass? Ima hunter aswell. and indeed sometimes it feels like that when i got killed by the super of titan and warlock but still we can kill them from a distance without even aim perfectly.

        • I agree that the hunters super can be a little limited, but I would wager that the subclass bladedancer's super is better than the Titan's and Warlock's sub class's super. I say this as it was mentioned in a previous article somewhere that the Warlock and Titans subclass is support oriented while the Hunter's is more about damage. Soooo yeah there you go!

          • once the blade dancer class comes out and us hunters can teleport, turn invisible, summon an arc blade, and smash lightning into the ground to do an AOE we will finally be balanced.

          • The Golden Gun should have 4 shots and its duration should decrease slowly when you've just activated it, and only start decreasing at a faster rate after your first shot with it has been fired, since it already has such a long charge-up time. Another way of making the Golden Gun better is to simply make its cooldown faster.

          • I agree, but another solution can be to have the shots fired create a small explosion when contacting a surface. Anyone near the explosion would be set on fire much like how the incendiary grenade sets enemies ablaze. After all, Titans and Warlocks have an Aftermath to their supers, so why not Hunters. 3 shots is enough I'd say, but the main thing is to give someone with a golden gun out some higher defense just so that we don't get shredded while we aim at one and get shot by another. Give Hunters who have their supers active some defense while GG is out. Since we do not have immunity when we pull out the GG. When a Hunter is confronted by 2 enemies. We must choose who to take out first, this gives the other guy a chance to destroy us before we can turn, line up a shot, and pull the trigger. Not like you can spray a GG. In the same situation any other class could simply use their super and wipe 2, 3, or even 6 people in one shot. Unless everyone lines up in a perfect conga line most likely you'll only get 3 kills with the gun.

          • Well, there is that overpenetrate skill that allows the possibility of damaging two people with each golden shot. But I've never tested it out. Also in large groups, people tend to face different directions and deny or destroy the Titan before/after their effort. In a group of three taking a spot, I was facing the opposite direction to the other two. At the last second I noticed a Titan running towards us, so I quickly double jumped back while the Titan slammed into the other two, then I just shot him full of holes. It's probably pretty rare for a Titan to get an entire team. They have different supers for different occasions.

          • My only problem with the hunters golden gun, is in PvP with the time frame it stays open. I somehow always activate it when there's a mob of red on the radar, and it only ends up being one person. Which leaves me scrambling to find someone else haha. There are some perks that make the golden gun pretty equal with the titan and warlock. The ability to penetrate enemies, sets them on fire/explodes. Pretty solid in my eyes. Along with using the throwing knife for a precision kill with it active? Deal.

gunslinger is balanced af, but pvp im gonna play bladedancer a sneaky rogue-like monstrosity that blinks around stabbing and slashing foes back to the depths of the hellmouth allthough i think having a unlimited time to use those 3 shots would be more accurate i am fine with it now

              • They are balanced i get killed evenly by all of the powers. Remember the only mode playable atm is a control mode which would obviously make the titan and warlock powers better but they aren't op also you get 3 shots in that pistol which is 3 1 shot kills and on bigger open maps that will come into its own.

I've said this once and I'll say it again: The Hunter's super can deal instantaneous death, and lasts for a decent amount of time. When I say instantaneous death, I mean that if you know how to properly use it, you can kill everybody capturing a point before they even have time to admire your cloak. The Titan and Warlock have a range limit and a start-up animation that leaves them vulnerable, and they have a wind-down animation that also leaves them vulnerable (the Warlock more so than the Titan). Furthermore, the Golden Gun also has a lot more range than the other Supers. Their are also perks we can get for it that allow it to pierce enemies for more than one kill per bullet, add splash damage, and make victims explode upon death. The other two supers have nothing that changes them THIS much. All of these things combined make Golden Gun just as deadly, if not more so in certain situations, as the other two. Edit: Another thing I'd like to add is that the Golden Gun excels at shutting down Titans and Warlocks trying to use their Supers due to their Supers requiring a start-up and the Hunter's procced Golden Gun being able to dish out instant death. I've been killed many times by Hunter's with Golden Gun while trying to use Nova Bomb.

                    • The only problem I have is that Titan super beats Hunter super, every time. I used my super, and as a Titan jumped up in the air, I shot him, to no avail as he blasted me. It's a one shot kill, him using a super shouldn't stop mine. If I have my super activated that doesn't stop anyone else from killing me with their super. I think a Warlock's super will block a Hunter's as well.

                      • How about you get better with the Hunter? The classes are balanced pretty well really. You just need to know how to play with them. Honestly, I'm an above average player when it comes to killing others (PVP) and the Hunter isn't ment to just go out guns blazing. He's a stealthy guardian. His sub-class however is more of melee so you'd have to charge in, but when the full game comes out, pick your abilities wisely cause if you don't, you're screwed. You're either a stealthy Hunter, or just a shitty one. Compared to the other Guardians of course

                        • I appreciate the time you took to compose a legitimate feedback post. I do, however, disagree with you. Allow me to explain my thinking. These sort of games where players choose specialized roles to fill in conjunction with others can be difficult to assess from all the angles you really need to consider. Issues are complex and interactive, and solutions aren't as straightforward as they seem. Your characterizations of the supers seem pretty accurate. However, your evaluation of the golden gun as being weak in comparison is reductive. The Titan ability has a limited range relative to the other two while its effectiveness within that range is limited to the positioning of enemies. If players spread out, the move loses potency. The warlock super has a good range (needs skill to arc it for distances), but it moves slowly enough that it is easily avoided from a distance. Furthermore, the same strength you mention with its ability to block a lane is also a weakness in that you cannot adjust it once its placed. The golden gun can be aimed over great distances, travels faster than any other super, and has three shots. Where the other two supers are only effective in the targetted area and require enemies in proximity to be most effective, the golden gun can select targets and be used on any three targets as long as they are in line of sight. This advantage plays into the hunter style in general, where the hunter will be behind the front lines and putting bullets in the places they'll do the most damage. All these supers have strengths and weaknesses, tactical advantages or disadvantages. I'd encourage you to think multidimensionally

Hunter super is perfect. You can sneak up on people with it. Crouch walk and bang. Evaporated person.
