lol people are actually still finding this post haha I guess we found out there's not space combat
-
We have seen this mechanic by Bungie work well in Halo Reach. Bungie needs to consider adding other main hallmarks of an MMO and sandbox gaming to really open things up for players. Along with planets, battles in space will help add to Destiny being more of an open world experience.
-
2 RepliesMaybe they could, like, make an extension where you fight Cabal, Fallen, and Hive over the Moon, Mars, Venus, and Earth, and possibly fight with the Awoken against the Dreadnaught fleet in the rings of Saturn. Could be cool!
-
1 ReplyNecrobump. If they can add a racing element, they can add a ship combat element as well.
-
What are the guns for on the ships if we aren't usng them right? I posted a similar topic.
-
2 RepliesIt time for guardians to fly out of old Russia continent and explore other maps with the jump ship
-
2 RepliesSpace battle like older Star Wars games would be sweet
-
They really need a space combat dlc
-
Honestly I agree, I won't to do more with my ship than watch it and brag about how good it looks, and we should be able to out fit our ships with weapons.
-
1 ReplyI hate the ships in this game so much their there but we cant use them come on buinge remember reach every loved the space combat make that thing its not hard
-
1 ReplyIf destiny had space combat, I'd never get any sleep
-
If not ship vs ship pvp, then it wouls be just as awesome be able to patrol the solar system in our ship ( just like we patrol the planets) with differen enemies occupying different sections of solar system.. It would be pretty amazing to be flying through the beautiful rings of Saturn, enjoying the view then before you know it, you're in the middle of a Hive fleet at war with a Fallen fleet... Anybody who says that doesn't sound amazing is lying
-
4 RepliesI expect this is something that we would see in Destiny 2.
-
Now THAT would be above expectations. There really is no reason to believe that they won't implement this into the full game on September 9th. I did see a comment in here about a ship having guns on it for sale... and the question really is... why would Bungle even waste their precious time giving a ship which was only shown to be in the loading screens guns? Perhaps they will implement some sort of solar system space exploration like in the beta with the Old Russia exploration. Maybe the map which warp drives you to different locations will only be needed if you get tired of flying your ship in space and want to go to Venus right then and there. It would make sense, would it not? You could have enemy fallen in their own ships patrolling the solar system, same as encountering them on the ground in Old Russia. Except, you would have to fight each other with your ships. Loot could be gained by maybe flying in the asteroid belt and collecting materials from the asteroids via space ship, or destroying enemy ships and collecting the metals used to produce their ships. I see alot of potential for it, and with friends, the experience would be unbelievably enjoyable. Cross our fingers I guess :)
-
Even if they don't implement combat, a large variety of loading screens, per area, would be nice.
-
I had high hopes for some freespace style space exploration when they announced the game would be free roam. I was a tad disappointed when I learned the ship is not better than a shiny waste of space.
-
2 RepliesMaybe against aliens, but against your teammates, the last guardians of earth... that wouldn't work out too well. Although it could be fun i don't think it would be wise to create such a thing.
-
2 RepliesUnless Bungie are already working on this, I think it's a total waste of time. You should have been around when SWTOR was coming out, there were so many topics on space combat. BioWare had not planned for it. Eventually they capitulated and put it in, which resulted in devs wasting time on on-rails shooter missions. I think this is what you'll get in Destiny as well if they have to put it in. Devs wasting their time on a lacklustre space combat minigame when they could be improving the core experience.
-
Would be Nice:) Well in the next 10 years who knows ;)
-
It would be cool if you could do space flight free roam just sayin
-
1 ReplyThey're vanity items that add flair to the loading screens. There is no space combat and it would require so much work I doubt there will ever be space combat.
-
3 RepliesWell, I heard it affects your overall Galactic Readiness. Getting the most guarantees the Reapers won't win.
-
I wouldn't totally rule it out, Bungie experimented with the idea in Halo: Reach. There was a space combat mission where you got to pilot a Saber in space. In the 4 years since they might have improved upon that.

Edited by Waynos: 7/26/2014 9:26:32 AMOne day bungie will release the next chapter in destiny, and in a few years there will be a leap in what we play and understand as an open world game. Imagine destiny, but the ability to leave the planet and explore. Almost a destiny but with features similar to 'no man's sky' You could be in a space battle, only to have to abandon ship, or crash land. As you come through the atmosphere, your team, already battling on the ground can look up and see your ship burning up and lighting up the sky. you can try land that sucker and continue the fight (or crash and burn) Nothing will be incorporated or included in this game, but in the future, when they know how to do it right, it would be wrong not to include it

Right! Space dog fights with your ships! 6v6 TDM
-
There won't be any gravity differences in destiny. I would love to see some, but we have already played on the moon an there wasn't a difference there.
