Sounds like the only thing left to try is port forwarding (http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/PS4/). What type of connection do you have? Can you post your connection statistics from the router?

  • Is it this one (http://www.att.com/equipment/accessory-details/?q_categoryid=cat2020044&q_sku=sku5520229&q_manufacturer=&q_model)? Don't worry about port forwarding yet because if your NAT is good it might not help. Make sure your connection stats are good first. I'm Australian but I've heard of AT&T so I assume they're a big internet service provide. If your connection is bad you can call them armed with the stats, you'll get a lot more help that way.

  • How do i tell if the NAT type is suited for this beta and other games i already play? and yes that is the right model, what must i do Sensei!?

  • NAT type 2 is best, 1 won't cause disconnections but isn't secure, 3 is bad. I don't have time to give you a step by step guide on how to get your line stats but now that you know your router model Google is your friend.

    NAT type 1 isn't insecure unless you've used DMZ to achieve it. All you're doing for port forwarding is translating a local IP into a format that can be used in conjunction with your internet IP. That's it. Forward the appropriate ports (whatever PSN requires) and associate it with the IP of your PS3. And as for NAT type 2, no, it's not the best. If two NAT type 2 connections meet, they struggle. NAT type 3 is simply a "no" regardless of who you attempt to connect to.

  • I'm no expert but are you certain? My understanding is that DMZ is essentially forwarding every and any port that tries to connect to your console. A lot easier to do than actually forwarding specific ports that you trust but does let anyone connect to your console through any port. I've not heard of somebody getting hacked at all regardless of DMZ or not so may be a mute point anyway.

  • DMZ isn't good, period. DMZ is used in areas of a network where you believe anybody on the internet should have full access. With DMZ, they just need to figure out which IP address the device is, and that's it. At least with specific ports, they need to know the IP address and the ports. And there are [i]a lot[/i] of ports to try. And they can't know what type of device it is, so it doesn't matter whether the PSN's ports are documented and public.

  • I don't think it'll make much difference as you'd be opening ports for the Playstation Network (http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/PlayStation_Network/). Once you've selected your router this guide will tell you how to access it. From there you'll need to find the connection statistics. It'll says stuff about connection speed up/down and the number of errors. If it's a DSL connection, attenuation is important. There will be a bunch of other stuff, each router is different. You may have to read some of your routers manual to locate them. Copy and paste the stats in here when you find them.
