I got the error too. The companion app says I haven't created a character, even though I got 2 to level 8. I hope I didn't lose my data.

I keep receiving this error myself and when i check the bungie site or the companion app none of the characters appear. I can see my character in the friends recent activities but when I click on it I receive an error.
