In Dragon Age Origins it makes sense to name your character. It helps differentiate one play through from another. Im willing to bet that Destiny wont have need for it.
Not to mention its FPS first and foremost, with RPG/MMO elements to it.

Why have all the element of and RPG i.e. named weapons, named gear, character customization, loot, quests and open world exploration without the simple element of giving you unique in game character a name? Especially seeing as we will have multiple guardians (even in COD Ghosts you name you squad members)

What would be the point if everyone sees you GT/PSN IDs? I mean in GTA Online, I have a character called Sathanas (big Freespace 2 fan) and my sister who also plays has a character called KayBear but my friends and her BF sees my PSN ID instead. Im largely indifferent to naming characters and shit.

I understand you are indifferent to naming characters. What if it primarily displayed your character name and either displayed the psn id in parentheses and smaller right bellow your guardian name or showed your psn id when you went to friend request look at the player card? Many people feel really passionate about naming their character as it gives them more ownership (rather than all your characters bearing the PSN id you created before destiny even existed) It would be a neat feature a lot of people would enjoy and it fits in the style of the game.

Im not so sure Id word it so strongly, I am fairly creative with names for like TES and Fallout where I had names such as Nevairo, Torvidna Melanna (one of my ususal MMO Alias's") The Masked Avenger, Warzogra, Ja-Rii, Hunter the Avatar of Hircine. But in Destiny I just don't feel the urge to come up with names. Skeloton is enough of a name for me. I just feel this is a feature for the sake of having it. But like I keep saying if it its in its in if it isn't it isn't.
