It did for me. To me it really painted a picture of less emphasis on just twitchy shooter skills and more on thinking about how the items you choose will interact with your chosen skills and how you can use that to your advantage in a game. You still need to have an okay trigger finger of course, but you also have to really think about how to best use your build or how to counter another player's build, and I think knowing how to make an effective build takes a lot more skill than just good reflexes on the controller.

Exactly, and isn't it refreshing to know that you aren't always going to have the perfect counter? But with the decisions being made on which weapons that get placed in primary, secondary, and special slots will add to that greater depth of going back and saying. "Ok, that was -blamed- up what just happened that match, but with this focus and exotic armor piece I should be able to shoulder in enough damage and get a super through for the team." I can't wait for this beta!!!

Super refreshing. During the Lars' section when they were talking about balance and people yelling about "such and such is OP", "this isn't balanced", and how they explained that everything still has its counter, my mind was just racing at that. Because that is absolutely downright tactics, I love that! You know, it's like if you're playing a MOBA and the enemy team is very magic resistant, you don't build really heavily towards magic power because it's not going to do a damn thing. You have to actually think about what your enemy is doing and how to get the advantage. And "play style" no longer comes down to just what weapon and what range, it can truly be varied and you have to think about how various things can work together and how someone might play based on the attributes they have. I am just giddy about Destiny right this second, that was just such a great podcast. They didn't even really talk about specifics so much as design philosophies, but it still tells us so much about the game. I hope every podcast is like that.

  • Just listened to the podcast and I can't agree with you more. It's really exciting knowing how excited the guys are about their own game. Every aspect of Destiny seems awesome but i'm really looking forward to blasting some enemies in competitive multiplayer. See you in the beta! :)
