A brief rant about the Xbox's new money system

I know what you're thinking, "You chose now to bring it up?" Though I did, it cannot be avoided any longer. I have to bring up a few problems with the Fall 2013 money system for Xbox Live. First off, Whenever I buy ANYTHING, and I mean ANYTHING, I get charged extra for it. Yes, that's right. That "1" you see at the side? It's a tax symbol. Even a microtransaction requires it! It's like this guy's all, "Hey, I'm gonna buy something cheap off of Xbox Live!" but Microsoft's like, "Oh, no you're not! You gotta pay extra first!" Whatever happened to paying the exact amount of Microsoft currency for the DLC you wanted? And whenever you do buy anything, it charges your credit card. Don't drag my goddamn credit card into this, Microsoft! Whatever happened to just paying for something on Xbox Live and that being the end of it? Do you really need to use your credit card to complete the transaction? The question is, What happened to the simpler Xbox currency that we were all content with? Honestly, Microsoft, what was going through your head? Did you guys feel like the only people who should be buying DLC are older people, and not the young people? Or was this the final command of Adam Orth or Don Mattrick before they left Microsoft? Man, people say the Xbox One reveal was the worst thing that Microsoft did, but, wow. This new money system puts it to shame, IMHO.

  • If you don't like it, leave the system. It's as simple as that. With the next generation rolling around now, it's the perfect time to leave.

Back with MS points, you definitely had to make more than one transaction. One for the points, and another for the content. They've streamlined it so you only have to buy the thing you want.
Do you really need to use your credit card to complete the transaction?
Yes, they do.
What happened to the simpler Xbox currency that we were all content with?
Simpler? You think buying points to then buy content is simpler than just buying the content itself? And you can speak for yourself on being content with MS points. I hated them, and am glad I can just buy things directly.
Honestly, Microsoft, what was going through your head?
Convenience for us, their customers.
Did you guys feel like the only people who should be buying DLC are older people, and not the young people?
People without credit cards can still buy prepaid cards just like MS points. So really, exactly nothing has changed for you since the switch.

I'm fine with it but the only problem is that when BO 2 (which stinks now I hate it) was still "popular" I went to buy the apocalypse DLC when I had 16$ in my account
I couldn't buy it :-( but that's in the past now
• If you don't want it charged to a card, i have a crazy idea... Buy one of the pre pay cards. Its like the old ms points you could buy but you can get £5, £10, £20 etc

    • OP, I hope you realize that BNET is oddly chuck-full of M$ shills. This is shown when you see the pro-DRM and Halo 4 posts.

    • It's understandable why they have to add a tax to the purchases now that they are in real currency. What's unfortunate is that the currency cards are taxed too in stores, so that you're basically taxed twice. I suppose getting all your Xbox currency by credit from your console would bypass the double tax?

Blame the -blam!-ing idiots that is this new gaming generation. They're all -blam!-ing morons. Their complaint was literally the fact that there was left over MS points after some purchases. So now we get taxed on literally ever single transaction, no matter how -blam!-ing small it is. And on top of it, some banks will charge a fee as well.

      • Blame the state you live in, OP. I live in New York, so I get charged tax on XBL, PSN, and NN, but if I changed my zipcode on my account to another state/county that DIDN'T have tax laws for digital content, I wouldn't have to pay extra.

        • Stop lying, you don't get charged tax when using money already on your account. Nothing has changed as you always got charged tax when you bought point cards.

              • >overwhelming complaints from the majority of users cause Microsoft to change to a real money system >those same people then start complaining that things are being taxed like they are on other systems >people who said this was going to happen all along if they switched: itoldyouso.jpg

I like the new system because I don't have to add 1000msp to buy an 800msp game instead its just €9.99 and that's all that gets charged
