The symbol on the wall is the Chinese/Japanese kanji for the number 5, ( http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E4%BA%94 ). Can we take this as confirmation that either China or Japan built the moon base, or at least had something to do with the accelerator before 'The Fall'?
Given that there's an Arabic numeral 5 just beneath it, I don't think its out of the realm of possibilities that there was some level of interaction with people of other nationalities. We can also safely assume that there are probably 4 more of whatever this picture represents.
Or I could be dead wrong and the artist just thought it looked cool, but I do think it's worth mentioning.

Maybe America is the new China....

1 ReplyI definitely believe that is an Asian Character. Bungie definitely knows the impact China and Japan's economical growth will have in the future. Going off of Halo, I'd imagine that it was built by the Chinese. Why? Bungie used Chinese characters to give dates in the Reach Legendary Edition.

1 ReplyI would have assumed that in humanity's Golden Age, we would have lost all need for borders. Perhaps the people who worked on the moon spoke Chinese or Japanese, but I think the main idea is that they were human.

Hmmm interesting. Maybe it's part of a beta code or something. Look people. Keep your eye out for more of these screen shots. Or maybe it's just nothing. Come to think of it all the destiny trading cards are made in CHINA so maybe they made this too. Figures

I assume China. somewhere recently (was it the podcast?) a Bungie-dude corrected himself when referring to the dead astronaut in the Moon vidoc saying "actually, he's a Taikonaut".
