Commander Palmer went on to be instrumental in the recovery of the Master Chief
Wut
Standing around doing nothing for pretty much the entire game and telling the MC "I thought you'd be taller" was some how vital to his recovery?

She's the Commanding Officer in charge of all Spartan IV operations, by default making her instrumental.

She still didn't do shit. Even in Spartan Ops the only useful thing she did was kick a box. The Spartan IVs didn't even do much in the campaign and the MC found them, not the other way around. Del Rio, Lasky, a bunch of marines, an a couple pelican pilots were the ones who actually did work. Once again, all Palmer did was sit on her ass and say that she thought the MC would be taller.

Probably meant to be some ONI description making Palmer look better than she is.

As Commanding Officer she wouldn't be on the front lines very much, she'd be Commanding the Spartans from Infinity. It takes more than having boots on the ground to do things. And while I agree that she didn't do much to recover the Chief, she did plenty in Spartan Ops; otherwise by that logic the Generals and Commanders of any military technically don't "do" anything at all, do they? They just sit on their ass and issue orders, right?
-
Yeah, but she didn't command shit. Del Rio and Lasky did all the commanding during the Halo 4 campaign and Palmer didn't do any commanding (if you can even call it that) until a few months after the MC had already been recovered. You even said that she didn't do much to recover the chief. How the hell does that mean that she was vital to his recovery?
-
That's what the record shows, but if yo recall, they weren't big on giving Chief credit.
-
Yeah..... that is weird. I'm just trying to rack my memory as to what she might have done, but I've come up blank. Can anyone else bring any input in on this? Did Palmer do something that made her "instrumental"? I was under the impression that Chief and Cortana stumbled across the Infinity by sheer luck, and bumped into Lasky and Palmer. Was there more going on?

Nope, about the only beneficial thing I can think of is when she kicked the SpOps Artifact when it first got brought onto Infinity...and that's it. She just stood around like a lazy dork and being a waste of resources (not going out in the field on any ops) for most of SpOps, the one time she did leave Infinity she botched the job and neglected the more important duty (hmm, capturing or killing the one guy who's pretty much the biggest threat to the UNSC right now.....or trying to shoot and kill a little old lady scientist? hmmm).....Palmer is pretty much just useless and a waste of space, a rock could have done a better job than her.
