Are you okay with women being overly sexualized in the media?

It's pretty normal and expected now a days for a leading woman to be attractive, skinny, pretty, and all in all desirable. They frequently are shown stripping down to there underwear, or naked, because it's "hot". They like to tease with cleavage, etc. In movies, most female characters have a respectable rack. Do you guys think women are overly sexualized? Personally I don't care because hey who doesn't like looking at hot women?

  • I know I've already posted on this thread months ago, and my reply still stands; I've accepted it but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm okay with it. Actually, me and my mother was discussing this topic yesterday, because lately I've been really dreading going out in public. It seems like I can't go to the drug store, grocery store, the mall, etc, without feeling extremely uncomfortable by having these men, which are clearly old enough to be my father (or some even grandfather) making it bluntly obviously they're sizing me up. It's completely disgusting and before someone makes a comment saying; "Well, cover yourself up more", when it's 30 C, I'm not going to wear a sweater and jeans because grown men can't keep their eyes to themselves. Even in the winter, it happens, but lately it's been so much worse, to the point I usually decline my friend's invites to go shopping. It's not flattering, it's not cute, it's gross. It makes me wonder, what exactly makes these grown, older men, (sometimes even with their wives) think it's okay, to size up a young girl, that's clearly young enough to be their daughter, and to have no shame doing so? Perhaps they're just perverted, but why are there so damn many of them? Why do it happen so frequently? I honestly believe it's due to the media, which constantly show these men (of all ages) that woman are objects and it's okay to view them as such. It's okay to size them up from head to toe, although you may make them feel uncomfortable because that's what they're there for. Their body is for your viewing pleasure, and I think a lot of men carry this mindset into the public.
