Ps4 can do the exact same thing as xbox. To dedicated servers to better AI and even stream games.

3 RepliesThat video really explained... nothing that we already didn't know. Still not as reliable or as efficient as Microsoft's already running Cloud services. Which they also dumped more money into. And has dedicated servers. And will be ready before launch (not the year after)... Besides, it's not like you Sony-clones are going to get to choose which games will be offered. Sony has already stated that they will only stream the PoS3 games that they think were the most popular. See, if you actually read what they say instead of ignorantly blind-hating what you know nothing about, you'd see that Sony is no different than Microsoft. Sony is just locked into an elementary school level of name-calling. Just like their fan base is.

You can tell he is an obvious PS4 fan. He talks about how he has nothing bad to say about PS4 and he has to sit down and think about something bad. He primarily talks about how cloud is suppose to make graphics look better. I do agree with him that technology is currently not there but its growing at such a fast rate that it could very well be on our doorstep in the near future. He then goes on to talk about the 300,000 servers how its not significant because other people use it. Currently there are 15,000 servers running everything that there currently is and a 20 fold increase is going to have a significant impact. The purpose of these servers are for dedicated use. The publishers/developers purchase the ability to use these servers. Which will actually cost them less than having their own servers. Now currently with how servers work is that you connect to them however they decide which "player/host" in the game has the best ability to run the match. This can give advantages, lag, and just poor game-play online depending on the host. The new servers being dedicated means that everyone will connect to the server that will be the host. This makes for much more consistent and stable online play. The next thing I'd like to talk about is the dynamic part of the servers which he doesn't matter. I remember new games coming out and servers crashing for the first few days leaving that game you just bought unplayable. Now this is usually due to the publisher/developer not having enough servers for the mass amounts of people attempting to play the game at release. The new dedicated servers will be able to increase how many servers are used on the fly for games. So on release day more servers can be dedicated for a game as more players attempt to play. This will allow for stable game-play no matter how many people are playing.

The difference is size, and MS will require all games to use dedicated servers, whether MS provided or not. For Sony it is an option. Also, sometime in 2014 is rather vague.
-
Yeah, it's pretty obvious, they've long since said it. I don't get why people can't get it through their skulls, I think they can't stand the thought that all this is possible across all platforms and MS doesn't have a huge advantage. Or maybe they want to believe that MS wasn't trying to screw them and Always online was necessary. Ah well, PS4 does all the stuff XBO does, well maybe not everything. I still have privacy and power of choice with the PS4. Also Gaikai streaming is gonna be great. Sure that one feature won't happen until 2014 but everything else is ready at launch. Also the time frame is between 2-12 months, not that much. Streaming and such I can wait for. It's launch anyways, there won't be much to download regardless. For a 10 year console, I can wait 6 months for better features.

1 ReplyThat didn't really explain the service. I still have a lot of questions about it. From what I know, Sony's acquisition of Gaikai, and the reason for their cloud service is to stream older games on the PS4. My questions pertain to that service. How will the pricing model for that go? Will you buy individual games to stream? Do you have access to the entire streaming catalogue for free? Is there a secondary subscription to pay for the Gaikai service? How reliable will it be? Gaikai's streaming service sucked, so how will it be better with under Sony? The problems with streaming games is, it works fine and dandy if you have a low number of people doing it, when you get massive amounts of people doing it, you get a higher failure rate. With streaming, you also have to be always on. I want to know more about the service, not the "OH we can do everything the Xbox One does and better! nanana boo boo, stick your head in doo doo!"

13 RepliesEdited by Obsric: 7/18/2013 12:38:40 PMThe biggest problem for Sony is their reliance on their acquisition of the GaiKai service - which won't be available at launch nor until 2014 - with no word on when it will be available outside the US. So that means no streaming of games, no sharing of gameplay or possibly even cross game chat (it's unclear if this is a GaiKai service or not) at launch. It's weird people don't mention this more often - it's hardly got any coverage even though it was announced on stage during E3. I don't doubt Sony could possibly get there in the end, but given Microsoft's Azure service is already up and running, and their 'cloud computational' services will begin from launch day (Forza 5 player AI), Sony will have some serious catching up to do.

3 RepliesI think it'll come down to which one of the two is more reliable.

Interesting, so PS4 can have all this X1 stuff. Oh well, I'm still getting the PS4 either way. The only thing I'd like this cloud computing for is getting PS1 and PS2 games. Wonder what Respawn has to say about this though, they're main thing for going with X1 for now at least, was the cloud.

2 RepliesActual interview he says it wont increase the power of the system. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCVplpC1YXY Here Its long as hell but if you want to understand part of what the X1 cloud can do watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QB0VKmk5bmI

well, I guess all that was going for the Xbox one besides Exclusive will be completely irrelevant now, The PS4 is literally the Xbox one's cheaper, game oriented big brother
