• My friend and I were playing Reach, teamed up to deal some death on Mt Lam Lam. The Red's are better than us, more prepared. But my buddies damn good at piloting anything that flies. He gets in the Falcon and I'm on a gun, raining hot metal death. He yells that there's an incoming rocket. But he dodges it. Does the same to another fired right after that one. Then, I see them. Four glowing balls headed straight for us. I try to warn him but the they connect, one sticking to my face. They explode, we die, and we laugh.

  • So a few years ago, I was playing Halo 3 BTB with some friends. Achronos was there... as were not-yet-Bungie-employee Halcylon and several other prominent community members. We were getting wrecked by some objective holders / stat padders / known laggers in Nuetral Bomb on Rats Nest. The score was 0-2 and we hadn't seen the bomb in over 10 minutes... Then we found it, and we got it back... and Achronos found a shotgun. With Achronos and his OP shotgun leading the way, we plowed through the opposition to score three bombs in a row in under two minutes and win the game. It was glorious. (omg, I managed to find the game stats!) Good times. :)

  • I was playing Reach with a friend, when I started to assassinate someone, and just as I killed him, his body stood up and didn't move, my friend pummeled him and assassinated him. We both got free points off assassinating this lagged corpse until the game was over.

  • it was me and a friend of mine playing halo 3 together. it was team death match. we were losing by 6 points the to the blue team, so most of our team left. it was just me and him against a whole team of people. I told him that i would get the sniper and shotgun if he got the BR and pistol. the match was in the pit, one of my favorite maps. we where at the sniper trying to hold our ground. i got a few blues down with my sniper, the ones that came to close got a shotgun to the face. my friend backed me up. we won that day.

  • Me and my friend were on the offensive infiltration spire, when the whole rest of the team left us. But we somehow managed to get the core down to ground, (Thirty Seconds Left) fight off the swarm of fiends, and finally i sacrificed myself with a final suicidal struggle. (Ten Seconds Left) My friend fought on and finally, barely reached the platform in about SEVEN seconds after our big standoff with the world. Something we won't forget. - (SEVENTY SEVEN words) -

So about 3 years ago (just over) I was at HMV in Glasgow with a grope of my friends and we went to the Gamer Base there, one of these friends said they knew this awesome game they found here that we could play. "It's called 'HALO'" he said, which I found rather confusing, he was a shooter guy and that did not sound like a shooter to me... So we logged on and loaded up the game, monks chanted into my ears, a mysterious ring stood proud in front of me! It was beautiful! Now I discover the God Pistol.

  • My favorite moment was having bungie day playing an actual game or two (or at least the chance). Thats sounds like way more fun than "write a short story" ... what are we, primary school kids ?!? Come on ... you now have a whole friggin week ... through some love into the picture and front up to some games. Or (if we have to suffer a stupid story) why not base it on "likes" and at least let the fans have some fun (very sad non-gaming related fun) involvement?

  • My favourite moment was playing Valhalla on Halo 3. We all happened to have a vehicle - warthog, mongoose and the hornet. Out of nowhere we seemed to come together to form an impromptu super formation as we raced up Valhalla. The funniest part was breaking into song of 'Flight of the Valkeries' as we raced over the hill, thinking we looked like absolute bosses to storm the base at the other side. As I came over the hill some dood hit me square in the nose with the Splaser to turn our epic battle formation into a firey mess.

  • I loved playing 1 vs. 3 on construct. I was much better than my friends; I knew which jumps I could make and how to get places fast. I felt like a hunter and my prey screamed like scared sheep every time they caught a glimpse of me, that is if they saw me at all. As the game progressed the kills became more complex and the mind games more potent. It was a great feeling taking out three guys that all wanted me dead, but they also felt that they had slain a god whenever they took me down.

    • One of my favorite moments came at new years a couple of years ago. My friends and I have a tradition of gathering and playing halo (soon it shall become legend and be destiny instead). We set up the teams, and it ended up being 6 players versus me and my best friend. Through frantic playing, my friend and I managed to win all but one match. From that moment on we were banned from being on the same team when we all play together, but it was epic.

      • The final mission of Halo 2 brought about a whole new challenge that not many people may know about, and im not talking about the boss battle. At some point about half way through if i remember correctly you have to wait while Sargent Johnson drives the scorpion to a certain point at which he then blasts open the doors for you. This is a little game I like to call "Banshee Bomb" The aim is to hijack and pile up as many banshees as possible at the door before the scarab blows it up. I thought that if i got enough piled up i could blast the doors open myself early. SO anyway My friend and I played this game till well we still play it to this very day. You should give it a go some time my record is 13 that not much of a short story but more of a great memory

      • I’m sorry my story is a bit longer than 100 words, but any less doesn't do it justice. When I was younger my best friend, Emma would come over every day and play Halo CE. We had the best time, shooting it out or taking turns killing Covies. I was devastated when she and her family had to suddenly move back to Asia, overnight! I didn't even get to say goodbye. Whenever I played Halo I would think of her. After looking for four years she finally found my phone number, we were able to talk about the games we loved again. Her family had fallen on really hard times and couldn't move back to Canada. But after another two years her Dad was finally able to get a job here! I was so happy to be able to play the new Halo 3 with her and we've been playing Halo games together ever since.

      • I can't pick a favorite moment when it came to playing a halo game when I played with my dad. But if I had to decide it was the first time me and my father went and bought the Xbox halo edition and we brought it home. I remember starting the game and it starting with a blob like face of a person and going through controls. Me and my dad played for hours tell i fell asleep. These where the best bonding moments with my dad when I was 5 and he was always at work. ------------------ ^ Story. | ------------------ What I'm trying to say is ty bungie for bringing halo to us and allowing countless hours of great times with my father and my friends... And I'm looking forward to playing destiny with my father on some classic split screen =) SO THANK YOU BUNGIE FOR CREATING THE GREATEST GAME OF MY TIME AND ALLOWING ME TO PLAY IT P.s HI DEEJ and the top part with arrow pointing up is the story everything below is my thanks

      • Once in rocket race, the checkpoint spawned right next to me, and so I thought "oh I'll get out" because our third partner had left and that can make things hard. But my partner had seen it too, and even though we were going very fast, he performed a 90 degree turn at speed, and somehow I wind up free-riding the warthog right into the checkpoint, and we got the point right as we all exploded. But the best moment I ever had playing a Bungie game is when we watched the replay, at our own speed, and saw that I made it nearly 20 steps, perfectly in synch on top of the warthog, and when, only inches from the checkpoint, the warthog gets slammed and goes flying, and I managed a step or two on the back of the warthog, instinctively jumped and landed feet first, in the gate, as rockets lit it up from all directions. And that's what rocket race means to me. Happy Bungie Day, everyone. Also here's the youtube clip if you'd like. http://youtu.be/L7HwavXNmG4

        • So there I was... Alone. The last of my kin. The zombie blood was pumping through my dead veins faster and faster. I had one target left. I had to irradiate him. Quickly. Time being whittled down to seconds. Humanity was not going to win this match on my watch.. As I surveyed the map, I noticed him perched on a high point. I couldn't shoot his body, he was in cover. "He must have glitched" I muttered to myself. Yet a glimmer of hope appeared itself to me. Somehow, the editor put a tank right next to his location. That was my ticket. I ran into the garage, released the gate, drove our tank out, and aimed. Time stopped. "Would this even work?" I asked myself. "It has to." The controller vibrated. The human transcended to the sky. The blast from the tank adjacent to him was just enough to erase the human. I had done it. My team had done it. Halo 3 Last Resort

We were getting incoming fire like out of those B grade movie's, driving about and the shots are flying overhead. I drove up to (apparently) an empty wraith, it slowly turned around to face us but we escaped. The other way the wraith met us, dodged it's shot but now veering towards a cliff. On go the brakes but kept on going down this hill to the edge. We clipped the edge of a bridge and flipped. We had survived, we were cheering and celebrating and just as we got back in a spartan laser blew us away.

        • Long ago, when i played Halo 1 on the PC (and I still recall it well despite my young age) me and a friend of mine were playing on death island driving around with our ghosts when we found out that scorpion tanks functioned quite wel as jumping boards. We were stunting for hours when suddenly I just dropped on top of my friend and killed him. We both laughed out loud for 20 minutes at the least. after that I found my new style of killing at halo and I am now the best splatterer of all my friends! (I really hope Bungie brings some of that splattering to destiny as well :3 I love it!

        • It was my friend and I. Personally never having played Halo 3 (since I didn't own an Xbox 360 back then) I observed him play for a while. After a brief checkpoint he asked me "wanna play?", I obviously replied "YES!". It was then him and I demolishing each other, but he was winning. Obviously. The one manoeuvre he never knew how to achieve was boarding a Banshee. I did it whilst he was in mid-air in his Banshee. If tumultuous was a facial expression... he perfected it.

        • Once, I was going through a maze, I was very light and very fast, and then I came upon a fat kid with a gravity hammer! Me, my friend and 14 others ran for our lives! Until we reached the end, where we fought him off with turrets and spartan lasers. OH, HOW I MISS PLAYING CUSTOM GAMES INFECTION ON HALO 3, HOPE TO FIND DESTINY AS EXHILARATING!

        • Finding out that instead of the prolonged shootout with the prophet Regret on Halo 2, you could just mount his hover chair and pummel him with your fist. Then showing the rest of our friends how to beat him and laughing hysterically every time.

        • The most memorable Halo moment I have (and there is many), is when one day, my dad came home from work in microsoft with a big black box. I didn't know what this big black box did, but my father assured me it was good. The box came with two CD disks, one saying "mid town madness 3", and the other saying "halo : combat evoled" We chose to play halo first. Three hours , later we are playing Assault on the control room. My sister see's a golden elite with a sword , (we dubbed them "trolls" at the time) my sister screams. I laugh. I scream. Revert to last checkpoint. And now, nine years later, I sit here with a shiny new black box with blue lights on it, hoping that destiny will come out on PC.

        • Halo: Combat Evolved. Launch day of original Xbox. Me and my friend, Jim, queued for 18 hours at Virgin Megastore in London. We spent the whole day playing The Silent Cartographer demo while eating junk food. We got back to Jim's house at 2am and sat down with our friends and played LAN for hours. Got home at 5am to play the single player campaign. Fell asleep before the intro cut scene had finished. Woke up in the afternoon, Mum had covered me in a blanket. I spent the rest of the day playing the campaign. Thank you Bungie.

Sifting through the countless epic moments, I'll never forget one particular ctf match, an enemy warthog came hurtling by , full speed about 10 meters away, lobbing a grenade with ample judgement it becomes lodged in the caddy, detonating, it sends the warthog spinning madly, destined for the ocean, driver ejects and I shoot him in da heeead. ..or the sword base slayer match where my three team mates quit, taking on the enemy team lone wolf and still winning.

        • In 2004, my friends Marnix, Ceciel and I went camping in the Ardennes forrests in Belgium with our Unimog. We brought a generator, Xbox and TV. We would wake up in this beautiful forrest, roll out of our tents, and enjoy a relaxing silent breakfast... before starting up the noisy generator, crawling into the back of the Unimog and disrupt the serene atmosphere all day with the brutal sounds of war.

Halo 3, map Guardian. 2 friends and I sitting on the couch having a local game. It's 2 Vs. 1. I have a flamethrower. Friend A runs at me. Gets set on fire. Body goes up a gravity lift. Flaming body of friend A drops in front of friend B. Friend B screams like a little girl and drops the controller. Laughing ensues.
