We all know half the damn population smokes the good ol' Mary Jane. And I'm talking about the US. Here in Canada I'd say its about 85% of people. These are both dubious facts by the way. I think the glorious healing plant should be legal. Not sold and marketed. Just legal so I can grow my own worry-free.
Edit: Thanks for all the different perspective, guys. Hopefully everyone is learning something or other.

Good for an economic boost, if only slightly.
-
My opinion is represented by this video.
-
Full legalization for all people over the age of 15.
-
I dont smoke it, and dont plan on it, and i think they should legalize it. It's not as bad as alcohol or cigarettes, so i dont see why we allow the worst ones and try to stop people from smoking the other stuff. Then they could tax it and make a little money off it, save money on enforcing the laws against it/the campaigns for the debate. And, my personal favorite bonus, end the whole friggen debate. It really seems like legalization is a win-win, so i dont know why we act like pot is satan.
-
All drugs should be legal.
-
Should be legalized. Simple as that.
-
I'm against legalization. Bite me.

Half the people? HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHH
HAAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHA
Edited by JJB: 6/19/2013 11:11:48 PMAt this point anyone who argues that Marijuana should stay illegal yet is fine with Alcohol and Cigarettes staying legal is either extremely uninformed or an idiot(probably both). If we were to as a society objectively look at drugs(Alcohol and Cigarettes included) and rank them based on their inherent dangers, Weed would be near the very bottom well below Alcohol and Cigarettes. To put it simply, nobody has ever died as a direct result of smoking weed. Meanwhile Alcohol is responsible for over 75,000 deaths a year in the US alone, and Cigarettes are responsible for over 443,000 deaths each year in the US. The only logical reason marijuana remains illegal in the majority of the US is simply because of ignorance. This same ignorance is costing a country recovering from a recession billions of dollars in potential revenue.

It should be legal but well regulated. The war on drugs is a massive waste of taxpayer money and a new approach is needed

3rd weed thread in the last 24 hours. OT: Weed should be legalized because it's not like we're shooting heroin into our hearts.
These are both dubious facts by the way.
No shit they are.

Just started a group here, for everyone to join! It's all about marijuana, so feel free to come and chat. http://www.bungie.net/7_The-Toke-Tavern/en-us/Groups/Detail?groupId=40575

You have to tax and limit it, dude. That's the only way it would be worthwhile to legalize. It needs regulations because it is like any other legalized drug.
-
Legalize it but don't tax and regulate it; that shiznit sucks.

Edited by Stratos: 6/19/2013 11:02:04 PMMost people who think it should be legal have not done much research on the drug. And one of the major problems is that you can find websites claiming contradictory facts. You just need to filter out unreliable sources. Some people still believe that marijuana kills brain cells, which has been proven false. Infact, the opposite has been proven true. Marijuana use spurs brain cell growth in the hippocampus section of the brain. Not many, but some like to think marijuana will make you go insane. "Reefer Madness!". No, just no. Marijuana will not drive its users to insanity, however it does have the potential to bring out an early onset of mental illness in those predispositioned to said mental illness, like having a family history of schizophrenia, for example. As for marijuana making you stupid; there is a correlation between marijuana use and lower IQ. But correlation != causation. I am a daily marijuana user, and to answer the question "Does marijuana use make you less intelligent" honestly, I would say: In a way. Marijuana doesn't just make you lose information you had already learned. However, cannabis makes you very comfortable with what you have. It limits your inhibition to achieve new goals and accomplish things. So yes, in a way, it does make you lazy, just as others have claimed. But not really in the same sense of the word. This, coupled with the fact that there is a slight mind-haze 24 hours after the last use which SLIGHTLY limits your ability to take in and retain new information, could contribute to consistent marijuana users having a low IQ. As for physical effects, there really is not much to worry about. People say "Well inhaling any kind of burning material isn't good for you". Yes, but not all burning materials are created equal. Marijuana has less tar than tabacco, and has less carcinogenic compunds. The plant also has the amazing property of preventing some cancers and even limiting the growth of cancerous tumors. There is no link between marijuana and lung cancer. Ask me anything
-
Just legalize it already so everyone can shut up lmao
-
Just -blam-ing do it so we can get those taxes!
-
Definitely for medical use, no doubt. I'm fine with it being legalized for recreational use, I support it. But I don't feel necessarily strongly about it. If it were legalized, it would have to be regulated as strict or stricter than alcohol, and it would have to be extensively taxed.
-
Completely for its legalization.
-
How it it a healing plant?
-
And actually, only 42 percent of adults have reported using it. Just being nit picky.
-
I think it should be legal and treated like any other crop. It needs to be legislated and regulated though. Right now there's a problem with fungus on plants and using butane as a refining agent. I am really opposed to treating it as some all purpose medicine. Science suggests that by refining certain chemicals in it, we might be able to effectively treat some diseases with it. I'd also support using it as a replacement for Vicodin, especially in people with previous addiction history.
-
Have you talked to somebody who smoked weed literally everyday? They are massive retards. And I mean seriously massive retards. You want more people like this?
-
>2013 >doing drugs Fucking lol'd. Stay stupid.
