And yet we are cutting funding to education more and more to the bone. We are at the point where teachers are making paper protractors because they can't afford them for the class and can't make the students buy them anymore. We teach students how to pass tests, blazing over dozens of subjects, without ever teaching them anything or letting any of the information sink in. We crowd more and more students into classrooms and expect conditions to improve from this. We spend more money on students than most of Europe yet are nearing the bottom for education. We are developing a whole generation of adults who are going to be incompetent for the most basic of jobs for middle class existence.
