Sins of the Prophets is a mod for Sins of a Solar Empire, a sci-fi RTS game that, rather than controlling infantry, etc., you control entire fleets of ships to combat other fleets.
Sins of the Prophets utilizes the game but the mod itself makes it Halo-based; there is a UNSC fleet, Covenant fleet and Forerunner fleet all available for people to play. Each of the ships are greatly detailed, look great, and especially in combat.
The game follows canon greatly - the general need for 3 UNSC ships to defeat just 1 covenant ship, with such odds being repeated all across a massive 'playable' universe. Super MAC rounds, seen in Halo 2, really do put their rounds straight through multiple covenant ships.
The scale of ships range from massive ships like the UNSC Infinity, down to even fighter jets like the Sabre from Reach or the Longswords.
While not only is it fun to play, what makes it amazing is that, as a windows game, if you can capture your screen (Which is easy) you can easily use this mod to create massive naval battles between UNSC and covenant and use it for a machinima - the reason I am sharing it here.

Of course, there are multiple classes of ships, such as the Marathon Class, Charon Class, and Paris class, etc. Which follow the canon as much as possible.

Thanks for the publicity friendo, but this essential the exact same post I made. You are the friendo from 343industries.org aren't you. Anywho SoaSE is extremely easy to make machinima type movies with. The UNSC are 100% completed and released with the Covenant in the fast lane. Forerunners are going to be released at a later date. They will mess you up when fighting them. All the ships are scaled properly in terms of book canon (As in sizes, strengths, weapons). Here is a link showing of the longsword models and how easy it is to make videos: http://www.screencast.com/t/8lsd0o9IkJ
