3D's a nice feature, but I don't see it as [b]the[/b] future of gaming. There'll always be people who don't care for it, and people who's eyes can't percieve it.

I think it is very likely that we will almost completely skip 3D gaming, what with the new technological advancments we are seeing. Now, I'm not saying 3D gaming is a bad thing, but it just isn't all that impressive and shouldn't be our focus.

3D movies are great, and 3D gaming would be fantastic too. A lot of games deal with a character traversing a three-dimensional world, but because of the 2D projection we're robed of depth perception - making movement cumbersome. I haven't yet played any game projected in 3D, but I believe the current generation of consoles too weak to provide an enjoyable 3D experience. The industry standard is 30 frames per-second, but in 3D projection 30 FPS becomes 15 FPS, 60 FPS becomes 30 FPS, 120 FPS becomes 60 FPS, and so forth. I won't be happy till the home console is capable of 120 FPS at the graphical fidelity consumers are used to. 3D games are a great idea, but the required hardware for a great experience isn't yet available to the consumer.

As long as it doesn't take away from the game or become the focus it should be fine. Things like the Oculus Rift are going to be better in my opinion.
