ef - A Tale of Memories and ef - A Tale of Melodies are probably my favorite anime series (and I've seen 90+ different anime). If you're not a fan of romance, you probably won't like this no matter what. If you're indifferent, the plot itself isn't it's strong point- The reason I love it is because of the animation, art direction and dialogue. It's essentially about different groups of people who are all "connected" to each other in some way. The characters the story follows live in two cities, both with the same name (one is in Japan and the other I believe is in Australia). The city in Japan was devastated by an earthquake and a following fire, and an almost identical city was built in Australia in memory of all of those who died. The first series (A Tale of Memories) follows a guy who meets a girl who has a memory that lasts only 13 hours. The story also follows the girl's twin sister and her relationship issues. That's about all I can tell without giving too much away. I would watch the first episode and see what you think. It obviously gets better from there but you should be able to tell pretty quickly if you'll like it or not. There's also an english dub if you didn't see it already. I bought the Blu Ray's for both series and it's an alright dub; I just don't like it because quite a few of the voice actors are used in just about every other Sentai dub. I watched it originally in japanese but its up to you which you like better.
