...socialism is the same as communism?
We all know that communism doesn't work (because people are people) but socialism isn't as bad as you think it is. It wouldn't hurt if you took a few steps towards socialism.
So why do you misuse the word socialism?
NOTE: I wouldn't call myself a wholehearted socialist. There are some things I agree with and there are some things I disagree with.
-
I know the difference, Stallin worst man 1945.
-
Because OP sings this every morning
-
I think the Cold War has a lot to do with it...
-
Soviet style communism is closer to socialism than Carl Marx originally thought of. True Communism has yet to be practiced and even they is a form of socialism, which in theory may be a good thing but when in practice is executed poorly.
-
Both are equally horrible Capitalism ftw
-
Socialism is specifically designed to stifle all progress and keep people in their place. The "rich" won't have any incentive to make more money than they do because it will just be taken away and the "poor" won't have any incentive to move up in the world because they will have to take care of the rest of the idiots sucking on mama guvment's big floppy teat. Socialism is only endorsed by people who hate freedom and embrace a two class society where nothing gets accomplished.
-
We take things to seriously
-
communism is a form of socialism, but they are not the same.
-
Why? Go and listen to Five Finger Death Punches American capitalist and the pride. That seems to be the athem of Merica.
-
I don't, but many Americans can be stupid at times. That makes me sad that people think Communism and Socialism are the same thing.
-
Most of us are ignorant. Luckily i am not and wholeheartedly support socialized healthcare in America, just like the UK's.
-
Socialism is the transitional stage from capitalism to communism (at least in pure Marxist theory). Most people agree that communism is a shitty idea, so they generally don't care much for transitional stages to a shitty idea, either.
-
>Implying that all of us don't know the difference.
-
Edited by MendicantBill : 3/5/2013 10:27:06 PMit's all just runoff from the cold war. The people in politics now are the same people that grew up during a time when communists were our enemy, and still hold onto the sentiments from that day. In another generation or so I think people will be more open minded.
-
You're full of shit you Swedish fuck. Socialism would never work in america.
-
Socialism doesn't provide enough competition.
-
Socialism works in countries such as Israel, Germany and Finland but it really doesn't work in America. Despite all of that, America is still being socialized.
-
Edited by Crash: 3/5/2013 10:19:57 PMBecause any system that isn't capitalism has been completely demonized in this country for whatever reason. Being called a socialist is literally an insult here.
-
people believe that they are the same thing? Wait, seriously?
-
What expunge said. Economic system, that leads to a political system.
-
Socialism leads to communism
-
I am so glad I live on the prison island, I don't have to put up with the Europe and US arguments...
-
..... wha?
-
That link (not the video) just makes socialism sound like communism-lite. All the great worker-owned-factories flavor, but none of the abolishment-of-religion sodium and violent-overthrow-of-the-ruling-class cholesterol! So it seems to me the two are very similar in concept and differ on details. That should answer your question.
-
In regards to how we currently live, both are so extremely liberal that they might as well be the same thing.
-
Propaganda. I mean, our government has always been a mix of capitalism and socialism, never pure capitalism, and only recently has the word socialism become toxic, thanks to political pundits.
