The point is that they necessarily wouldn't. Permanent, lasting changes for incredible feats few people can accomplish. You play WoW? Imagine a 40 player raid invading an enemy capital city or an NPC faction's home base. You wipe and your characters are in a prison (the prison example doesn't get old to me- it is a good one). Things happen that cause lasting things on you- experiments. Torture. Whatever. Permanent effects are added before you break out and THAT is the true raid. A unique spell. Physical attributes. Stat change. Something permanent to make each side quest unique. THAT would be amazing. And by making some of them difficult to achieve, or requiring a lot of coordination, not everybody has the same ones.

Reminds me of something similar to pokemon... I think a certain kinds of stat limitation is put on the pokemon when you catch it, or something like that. My point is that getting the short end of that stick is going to suck.
