Notification Sound!?
Since DeeJ is forcing us to [b]keep talking[/b] here's something I would like to discuss.
A notification sound, i'm not saying I want one, i'm just wondering what everyone thinks of the idea of having one. Plus there's a notification for almost everything and i'm sure they could work in a option to turn it on & off.
So yes or no, if yes what sound would you like? Be real about this, use something from the previous Bungie titles or something Bungie could actually use. I was thinking the Halo 3: ODST Superintendent made some nice little sounds that would work perfect but at the same time Halo is pretty underground here, so you tell me!
I just feel like Bungie would have a awesome little addictive sound/sounds that could make this site feel more alive & make you love Bungie.Next even more.
Edit: It being annoying I can see that happening, guess it depends on the sound. I have custom ones for my iPhone that don't annoy me but I can see were everyone is coming from. I just don't think Bungie would make a irritating sound if it was implemented.

I wouldn't mind a sound for that. But if it's possible to turn it off in our profile settings, I think that would be a win-win for all. Those who want it have it on, those who don't can just have it off with a trip to settings.

as long as the info bar stays static at the top of the screen, I think a number would be fine. A sound would be cool however for the mobile app. If you have push notifications (for iphone users anyway) turned on for Bungie's app, it would be kinda cool to have a custom sound played whenever you get a notification from that app.

I don't see a problem adding any addition to the site as long as it's optional/revertible. Similar to Facebook, I leave B.net open in another tab while I surf teh webz. Sounds could help me out a bit.

1 ReplyI certainly would; I have a browser extension that plays the superintendent tone if Bungie posts something on their blog, twitter, or youtube. Copyright limitations not withstanding, I think it would be really cool if "Virgil" were to pop onto the screen and tell me something like "Traffic control online. With Pride" to tell me I have new followers or something :P

5 RepliesGod no. It'd be thoroughly annoying, and frankly the notification system isn't anywhere near quick enough to make it worthwhile; i've usually spotted and responded to any notifications before the notification system tells me theyre notifications.
