Im partial to Marathon myself, but maybe that's because I suck at Myth. Look up the private group For Carnage Apply Within. They play nothing but those classic games, a few times a week.

I am in it already, even though I never play. I also kind of stink - but story is fun and the game gives you fun tools to mess around with and create funny battles.
