Bungie.net Feedback
^^^ CLICK LINK ABOVE FOR PART 2 OF FEEDBACK. ^^^
While creating a quick Bungie.net guide, I tested some features (muting, hiding, messaging, groups, ect.) and learned a lot about how the new website works. After using Bungie.net for almost a week, I've gathered my thoughts and provided my feedback below. Feel free to agree or disagree with my suggestions as well as share any other input you may have. Side Note: I want to say thank you to the Bungie web team and Bungie.net moderators for all of their hard work. The web team has already deployed their first hotfix addressing important issues and will continue to improve our experience on this site. PS: I miss Bungie mobile. :-/ GENERAL & NAVIGATION:
* The browser tab titles should be changed to better describe the page you are viewing, especially in the forum. I would also like the Bungie.net homepage quotes/sayings from the old site to return. * There should be a link to a site map in the Footer. The site map should include all main pages and sub pages, not just what's in the drop down at the top. * Groups in the navigation drop-down should be sorted by group name (ascending) instead of the order you followed groups. Also, the groups you're a member of should be listed before the groups you're not a member of. * When selecting a reply link in the notifications, I would like the topic to appear with all replies by default.
SEARCHING:
* User search doesn't need to change at the moment. I assume you will be able to search for a user by their linked Xbox LIVE gamertag or PlayStation Network account after Bungie's next game is released. * The topics search on the Search page is pointless; it only searches for tags and provides 26 results. The topics search should work something like this. Please know that although this would be ideal, I don't know what potential this site has and how difficult/possible this would be able to implement (scale). A post search would also be nice in addition to a topic search (sort options would allow both ascending and descending).
Field 1: Subject contains these terms. Field 1 Type: AND, OR Field 2: Body contains these terms. Field 2 Type: AND, OR Sort By: Creation Date, Last Reply, Most Replies, Most Likes, Popular, Debated Filter 1: Tags contain these terms. Filter 1 Type: AND, OR Filter 2: Attachments Filter 2 Type: -, NONE, ALL, LINKS ONLY, IMAGES ONLY, YOUTUBE VIDEOS ONLY Filter 3: Original Poster: Only topics created by these users will be listed. Filter 4: User Comments: Only topics with comments/replies by these users will be listed. Filter 4 Type: AND, OR Filter 5: Created Filter 5 Type: Today, Week, Month, Year, All Time, From Date - Date Filter 6: Topic Type Filter 6 Type: -, FOLLOWED, INSPIRED, OFFICIAL, MODERATOR Filter 7: Privacy Filter 7 Type: -, PUBLIC, GROUP PUBLIC, GROUP PRIVATE
* The groups search on the Search page is different than the groups search on the Explore Groups page. The search from the Explore Groups page is better and should be implemented on the Search page as well. If there's a result for the exact term(s) searched, it should appear first regardless of what sort order or filter you have selected. Currently, groups search lists all groups that match the criteria by group name (ascending). The groups search should work like the following (sort options would allow both ascending and descending).
Field 1: Group Name contains these terms. Field 1 Type: AND, OR Field 2: Group Description contains these terms. Field 2 Type: AND, OR Field 3: Group Tags contain these terms. Field 3 Type: AND, OR Field 4: Founder name contains these terms. Field 4 Type: AND, OR Sort By: Group Name, Founder Name, Creation Date, # of Members, # of Followers Filter 1: Group Membership Filter 1 Type: -, Open, Requires Approval, Closed

PROFILE & SETTINGS:
* Please increase the number of users you can follow. I easily followed 100 users and would like to follow a lot more users. * I've seen quite a bit of impersonation on the website. The Display Name and Unique ID, Bungie (and maybe even some Bungie employee Unique IDs), should not be allowed for use. Users should be given the option to view Unique ID in the forums (as primary) and Display Name in the more information box. The Unique ID of a user should only be allowed to change once a year. * In addition to being able to register/sign in with four services (Microsoft Account, PlayStation Account, Google, and Facebook), Bungie should begin accepting OpenID on the website. Twitter integration (displaying Twitter icon with link to profile, embedded timelines, ect.) is also food for thought. * Profiles should display the date the user last signed in or have an online status. There should be a setting to hide this. * The icons on profile pages (Xbox, PSN, Facebook, ect.) should link to the appropriate off-site profile. It would be nice to have one custom icon/link, as we did on the old site. * Profiles should have three additional tabs for Post History, Like History, and Dislike History. All activity should be shown on these pages, 25 links per page. Being able to remove liked topics and dislike topics would be nice. I don't like the fact that once you like a topic, you can't unlike it, you have to dislike it (same applies vice versa). * Mottos should have more room. Text markup and links should be allowed. * In regards to security, having a secondary authorization (Bungie.net password) would be nice. This would be used for signing in (if enabled), linking/unlinking an account, changing the Unique ID, and other settings (if enabled). You would be able to reset this password via email or security questions (if added). * There should be a Notifications page that provides all notifications with more details and options. Some examples would be acepting/rejecting a user from a group, messaging a user, replying to a reply, following back, and seeing all users that liked your topic. * There should be settings to show/hide images and videos by default, enable/disable the warning message for off-site links, and show/hide community reported topics and posts by default (does not affect topics/posts by muted users and topics/posts manually hidden). * Custom avatars and/or themes for users that have been a member on the site for X number of years would be appreciated. * In the groups section, Deleted Groups are not listed. When a group is deleted, it cannot be recovered. I'm not sure why this section exists. * Multiple Bungie.net color schemes or even the possibility of creating your own custom color schemes would be great. Some users prefer a dark background with light text, some users prefer a light background with dark text, and some users are just special. If groups are given the ability to have a custom theme, there should be a setting for your Bungie.net color scheme to override all group schemes.
PRIVATE MESSAGING:
* There should be a Message Center page to easily go through and manage conversations. Searching users, searching text, and leaving multiple conversations at once would be features you could do here, but not from the navigation bar. * Messaging a muted user should not be allowed; an error message should notify you that you have muted the user. * The ability to add users to an existing conversation would be nice, but not necessary. * Let's say a group conversation is started. If a user leaves and starts a new conversation with the exact same group of users, the user should re-join the conversation. Currently (in this situation), the users that never left the first conversation would have two separate chat windows with the same group of users. This is unnecessary unless you are interested in having a conversation leader with the ability to kick users from a conversation. * IM Chat and Online Status is not needed and may not be something you're interested in, but it's definitely something to consider down the road. The Auto Responder (manual/auto) was kind of a neat future; I'm wondering if that's something Bungie will implement again.
NEWS:
* A new tab should be added called Archive. This would display all news stories from the old Bungie.net site. This is only a request if you plan on eventually taking down halo.bungie.net. * It would be nice if there was a "Start Related topic" button on news stories.
