I used to be a pretty hardcore player up until witch queen. I grinded raids, dungeons, all the god rolls pretty much. It felt fun and rewarding to grind for the perfect weapon to me personally. Different times.
Bringing that new cool weapon into activities that were enjoyable to play was the reward for all the grind. Destiny felt like a connected world where pvp players grinded pvp weapons in end game pve and vise versa. A diversified gameplay loop that no other shooters gives us.
Now that pvp is pretty much dead, just like gambit, getting new gear feels pointless TO ME. Others who always did and always will only care about pve will be different and thats fine.
To me personally this game has an end of the grind loop now that it feels abandoned. It feels more like a Borderlands+ rather than an actual MMO where you have something to do every single day that evolves your arsenal and your character in a meaningful way. All i see now is "do this chore, do that chore, come back tomorrow to be able to do this" And all that for some currency or vendor progress or upgrade materials. Theres less time to actually enjoy what you want because the game wants to put your attention to boring and dull chores. Its artifical carrots on a stick that are not worth chasing because theres no point.
Might sound crazy to some of you who are still in the hardcore department to this day but as someone who only drops in for major releases now, thats literally the reality of this games gameplay loop these days. I wasnt hooked on this game in such a long time and i think thats because everything feels so forced and uninspired now. I want to enjoy this game, i loved and always will love destiny and i really want to get hooked again because i miss this game but the current developer lineup seems to speak a completely different language than the dev team from 2014 until 2022 sadly.
I even wanted to quit halfway through the renegades campaign multiple times because repeating the same dull mission on different planets just isnt campaign worthy imo. It all feels like filler content because the true 40 dollar campaign would have been 2 hours max otherwise. I dont know, i just want Forsaken, shadowkeep, witch queen fun back. Non of this overcomplicated, forced and boring tier 5 forced difficulty simulator with no point to it. And my biggest fear is that if they decide to make a Destiny 3, where is the talent at Bungie that could possibly make that massive project FUN instead of another second day job simulator...

They believed they could just create a manipulative formula and call it a "game". And the blatant plagarism continues as they try to steal Helldivers and shoehorn it into the game after their Metroid expansion. This is ALL they are now.
