[spoiler]Wow. I did not go into this show with a lot of confidence. I came out thinking, when’s the next season??! I won’t be going episode by episode, just the pros and cons of the season.
Pros;
Riri’s character arc is great and I love how it’s not finished, she’s still working on it, just like what they did with Tony.
I LOVE the suits. All three of them. The bulky look made me feel like a kid watching Iron Man 1 again. That final suit though?? One of the best Iron Suits in the MCU seen in a LONG time.
Natalie was absolutely hilarious, and honestly I thought she was more interesting than Riri and would have made a better Riri. That’s also a con though, as no one in your show should feel like a better choice than you.
Hood was great. Just spectacular. A shunned child who grew up hateful, and instead of a redemption arc, he STAYS a villain. He doesn’t turn good or atone for his crimes. He just gets worse. Him turning demonic looking towards the end was great. I like how they kept the magic aspect to a minimum and focused more on the tech aspect of the show.
Mephisto. FINALLY. After YEARS of theories, speculation and rumors about Mephisto showing up in that show, in this movie, in that movie, name dropped in Agatha All Along, we FINALLY meet the demon himself. And while I hate to admit it, as much I dislike Sacha Baron Cohen for the terrible things he does for ‘comedy’, he gave a PHENOMENAL performance, and actually felt like a demon. He gave off this charming but dangerous vibe. That little reflection in the spoon was perfection.
CGI was great. Costume design was great. Writing was great. Acting was great. Cinematography was great. Music was always perfect. Humor was timely, never overdone.
Cons;
As I said, Natalie was more interesting than Riri and a better actress, and should have been Riri.
I feel like they could have done more with Xavier’s character. Seems like there was wasted potential.
As charming as he was as Mephisto, I would NOT have cast Sacha Baron Cohen. He’s done far too many bad things in the name of comedy, and supports some pretty bad stuff that is currently going on in the world. Thankfully, Mephisto changes appearance in the comics and could easily be recast. Personally I would have gone with Viggo Mortensen, since his portrayal of The Devil in Prophecy is one of the best portrayals of the character in media.
The post credit scene was a bit too vague. What is Hood after? Or rather Parker, seeing as he doesn’t have the hood anymore.
Dominique Thorne isn’t good enough of an actress to help carry a franchise. I’m afraid the character will get sidelined. She was by no means terrible, and FAR better than in Wakanda Forever, but still lacking. I think with more projects, she’ll just get better though.
I need more Ezekiel Stane, and I need him now. He was fantastic, but I didn’t like the rushed villain arc. I would have had him sent to prison and that’s that, and have the post credit scene deal with his resentment for Riri, leading into season 2.
Didn’t like how Riri chose to make the deal with Mephisto. It felt like it would have been a PERFECT moment for her to FINALLY move on from the past and look ahead to the future.
Overall, it’s near the top for the Marvel series for me.

I am happy to discuss the show in here, but ONLY, if you have watched all 6 episodes, and your criticism has nothing to do with the diversity of the show.
Everything else is fair game for discussion.
Your opinions, what you would have written in differently, who you would have cast for certain characters, etc.

1 ReplyIronheart was full of way too many problems imo: Riri is somehow a genius but is functionally a moron, motivations change every 5 seconds, barely any characters have an actual end goal, Riri is one of the most insufferable characters ever written, ect.

1 ReplyWhats the issue with Sacha Baron Cohen? They got a zionist to play the devil, its a perfect casting.
