State of the Game - When? We need a plan to improve moral.

In the ten years I’ve played this game I’ve never seen the community this pessimistic about the future of both the game and the studio. We need to discuss player feedback, the mass exodus of the player population, the negative reception regarding the seasonal model, & Bungie’s plan to improve. Pretending it isn’t happening and ignoring players isn’t helping the situation. A lot of us are losing hope and apathy is starting to set in. Please do something before this awesome game franchise dies.

  • It doesn't matter how long you played.... Bungie no longer have the mindset or the talent to repair the damage... From Pronouns pushed in every vidoc, political stances taken, sympathy for drug dealers that made you wait two whole minutes before you can play, Ai censorship so bad that you can't even write on your clan chat without every other word being censored, the unresolved 4 digit guardian debacle, perk gate, weight gate, glimmergate, xp throttled gate... Two blues and a token gate... Unforgettable, unfortunate, untrustworthy & THE WORST philosophy & work ethics, DEI KILLED YOUR GAME This ain't the same Bungie that existed when you first logged in all those years ago... THEY DESERVE TO BE FORGOTTEN

    • I think the free to play and seasonal model was a big loss for us players. Season pass is way too expensive for the content being released and it distracts the teams from working on quality content because they have to constantly work on quantity delivered each season. Nobody, almost, cares about a new activity with no health regen and new mechanics… as much as making the rest of the game engaging and fun. It already takes a PhD for many to figure out the current build system but they are adding even more modifiers and buff / debuff system. But these are cheap ways to make something old feel new, and artificially increase content.

      • I personally wouldn't call us pessimistic but rather realistic. Bungie has abandoned the game, has concluded the light and dark saga while stepping away from major DLC after and only shipping terrible seasons, excuse me episodes. The game is on bare minimum life support, kept alive by a skeleton crew. Only focus is microtransactions to squeeze money out of the remaining addicted elitists playing the game. Thats also why they kept catering their content to said elitists these days. Player sentiment is at an all time low cause there is no future to look forward to for the game. Bungie spent a lot of money on multiple (now failed and canceled) incubator games. They shifted most talent to the extraction shooter Marathon that will release way too late to hop onto the extraction shooter hype train that is basically over already. So yea Bungie is in big trouble if you asked me. They killed off their main and only current live game by trying to reach for the stars. They should have just kept the main focus on Destiny which HAD a massive following and just hired additional staff for extra projects. Then we would have still seen quality and fun content. Now its over. Pretty much a ship that already sank. And i personally do not see any possible scenario where Destiny 2 can recover. Even if they magically decided to put in effort and passion again.

          we have to admit their focus is not here.. I mean look at this final week of the season.. numbers at all time low.. you can show some extra attention: --XUR is same old nothing-ness as always --Bentobox could have easily been well thought out to extend.. even a new set of rewards or random rolls --no double drops at any ritual event.. just grind mfkrs for rank you will lose for an online world its stagnant because of their dev cycle.. they just plop stuff down and walk away like a hero from an explosion.. when you do need a team dedicated to not just fixing bugs.. but boosting excitement.. setting bonuses here.. random rewards there... this universe gets a Tuesday defibrillation.. but they are off in lala land disconnected.. its only us here until the last revive

        • I think tone deaf is the proper wording..sad .. they keep taking steps backwards . This new seasonal activity. NO HEALTH REGEN.. hmm ok so let's get super frustrated playing this activity, and skip it but you can't cause everything will be tied to it . . I mean really who thought this was a good idea .. they should just throw exploding ammo and oscillation to it to just completely f it all up

              10 yrs is enough.. Destiny ran its course. What are you holding on too. Destiny2 wasn't even supposed to last as long as it did. Bungo milking you addicts for what its worth.

              SotG vid will not help. We've had them before and time and time again what's been said isn't what's what we've got. Let's face it, when Bungo says we're doing this 🫶 what they actually mean is this🖕 You either accept it or don't, but don't expect it to change.

              My dude, it's done. Outside of the destiny circle, this game is known for its cheaters and lack of communication from its devs. Dmg is cool but it's not fair he's pretty much been the one taking all the strays for the devs. Not to mention the horrible leadership. Oh and our COD level toxicity. Frontiers is gonna be the last major thing we get and we are gonna be Anthem 2.0 after that. And if anyone is banking on Marathon, you'll be basically going up against Division and Apex. Hell, if Fortnite announces an extraction mode this year, Marathon is cooked. Good luck outdoing Fortnite money and resources if that happens.

Now it's boring and we're pretty much stuck using because it has 2 supers and is too much stronger than the originals.one player can play sweaty and hog almost every kill in even gms and make it a snooze fest for me at least. Summary - more thought,effort& vision should have been given to that latest subclass.

A Looter Shooter that isn't demanding Loot. [b]AND[/b] those who do chase the [b]PINNACLE[/b] of Loot (ie new Loot in [i]Dungeons, BPs, Raids,[/i] etc, think [i]Velocity Baton[/i]) are gaining access to what are essentially P2W weapons (don't argue with this, it's statistically verifiable across third parties), that [b]FURTHER[/b] the [i]disparity[/i] and [b]REDUCE[/b] the [i]variety[/i] within the game. In other words, [b]ONCE[/b] you have that [b]ONE[/b] dominant, [b]META[/b] weapon, you ride it into the sunset (if you're serious about competitive performance). I used to be hyper-critical of the OGs who called for [i]'Sunsetting'[/i]. But I get it now. What incentive is there for Loot in the game when you can ride mostly the same loadout til the end of time? This started during [i]The Witch Queen[/i] when [b]Weapon Crafting[/b] entered the universe. But player statistics and numbers overall from that period were healthy and sustainable. The playerbase actually grew in number (verifiable on [i]Steam[/i]) over the lifespan of [i]The Witch Queen[/i]. Community consensus was mostly uniform in a positive sentiment, barring the elite of the elite [b]CCers[/b], who were [u]losing out on Content[/u] thanks to [b]Crafting[/b]. What shifted from [i]The Witch Queen[/i] to [i]Lightfall[/i] then? [i]Lightfall[/i] initially boasted a net gain in player numbers, but failed heavily with retention over time. However even in the initial numerical boost, many within the community felt that casuals were being maligned with the difficulty (-blam!- [b]ALL[/b] the complaints about [i]Neomuna Threshers[/i], on here, social media, etc???). The elevation of difficulty that ensued with Lightfall was the beginning of this hemorrhage. [i]Season of the Deep[/i] was frustrating to many, and even in that July many popular [b]CCers[/b] released concerning statements about [i]The State of the Game[/i] & the hemorrhage [i]D2[/i] was experiencing. While I personally found [i]Season of the Witch[/i] to be fantastic, thanks to my mental shift of wanting to be a sweaty hard myself, many found the difficulty that accompanied [b]Savathun's Spire[/b] & [b]Altar's of Summoning[/b] to be too much. The player base verifiably dipped in number from where the season had started, but overall it was a recovery versus what [i]Season of the Deep[/i] imparted. [b]THEN[/b] there was the infamous patch- [i]The Pre-Wish[/i] neutering that [b]OVERHAULED EVERY[/b] [i]Armor Mod[/i] & multiple fragments in the game. I had an argument on [i]Twitter[/i] with one of the most prolific, hated [b]CCers[/b] of the D2 community that garnished nearly [b]30,000 views[/b] in 24hrs. The praise this elitist lathered on such a destructive patch to the fundamentals of [b]VARIETY[/b] in buildcrafting was absurd and contradictory. The patch went through nonetheless and we initially saw complete and utter destruction of [b]ANY[/b] Subclass that wasn't [i]Strand[/i]. It felt like [i]Bungie[/i] was trying to push [b]EVERYONE[/b] into a purchase of [i]Lightfall[/i] to be forced to abuse the brokenness of [i]Strand[/i]. [b]However[/b], T[i]he Season of the Wish[/i] [b]Artifact[/b] was the saving grace for variety that the community needed. To this day, I believe it is one of the [u]single best[/u] [b]Artifacts[/b] we've ever seen. The potential of [i]Solar[/i] was limitless. And alongside of [i]Strand[/i], the good times rolled for many. However, much like the previous two seasons, the casual community once again complained about [b]'The Coil'[/b] activity and the difficulty it imposed. The fact the eason spanned nearly [u]8 months[/u] also did it no favors within the community. Personal satisfaction aside, we once again saw many [b]CCers[/b] expressing concerns over player numbers. However, the opinions concerning the actual sandbox were relatively positive, [b]AND[/b] PRs in Endgame supported some variety (although Banner still dominated the top). Overall, despite the insane patch the predecessed [i]Season of the Wish[/i], the Season managed a bit of variety thanks to the [b]Artifact[/b]. But many, like myself, knew that once that [b]Artifact[/b] disappeared, it was likely going to be '[i]Strand or Bust[/i]' unless [i]Bungie[/i] hammered away at the subclass with nerfs.

                    Hot take? Bring back the old raids, nerf shatter/well skating but keep eager edge, buff all the crappy exotics to actually be fun somehow, ditch the "Master" raids with champs and go back to the Prestige raids that added an extra wrinkle or mechanic... and reward people with the chance to drop ornaments/glowing cosmetics and rare exotic emotes again (the calus throne was the best ever... RIP Spire of Stars). The game was less trivialized before, and Bungie kept shooting themselves in the foot to appease... for lack of a better phrase... the streamer generation. Content creators both elevated and killed a lot of uniqueness in this game. It's weird, but here we are. And The Final Shape conclusion definitely saw a massive drop off... because it's hard to get excited for the epilogue when you were so invested in the initial story closure. Oh.. and bring back Wrath! VoG/KF were solid remakes of their raids, Crota's new mechanic and 1st and 2nd encounters are stinky (but i really like encounters 3 and 4) and they can still win people back with Wrath of the Machine as long as it's fun and not hampered by some bs mechanic. I'm sure at this point I've excited a few people and pissed a few off. Look forward to the downvotes! Have a blessed night, friends. P.S. I hope Monster Hunter Wilds is good!                       The mass exodus happened because a lot players got closure when the final shape ended, and they didn’t want to continue supporting a studio that puts players last and keeps mishandling the game. Be it removing content we paid for, being forced to play their way, treating the game like a job to get any enjoyment, 1 step forward two steps back cycles, seasonal model, fun killing nerfs, poor leadership, layoffs, taking forever to fix things, and milking us for all we’ve got. For most the damage is done and there are a lot of other games out right now to keep them busy. Bungie has some work to do and I don’t think their mentality of pushing forward like nothing happened is going to work this time. My biggest advice to them is to figure what this game really is and lean into it more than ever before. MMO or looter shooter pick one and double down on it because this game has so much potential but it’s not being brought into that potential.

                      • A SOTG wouldn't do much at this point and probably make Moral worse. Bungie has shot themselves in the foot too many times for people to take it seriously. Only thing we can do is see what they cook up and hope for the best.

                      • Complaining helps nobody. Action and sharing ideas helps everyone. Here are some ideas to improve morale. - in-game art gallery. Curated from app posted artists. -in-game dance hall. D1 had it but rarely used due to it being hidden. -in-game sparrow racing -pro, pickup game, quick play. Easy to do if use existing open world areas. - more frequent and free to watch Bungie sponsored live stream. - play with devs for fun/not work. To show they actually play test. -better shooting gallery. - totals for all armor and weapons in character screen. Seriously stop hiding things.
