I just want to say how little I like this change; personally I use Ursa Furiosa all the time and it’s my main Titan exotic for a very specialized build that lets me live the Void Titan fantasy of being a wall. But on January 23rd, 2025 the second last TWID of episode Revenant announced that Ursa Furiosa interaction with Unbreakable would be changed, from Unbreakable granting you up to 20% of your super to returning grenade energy after use, the reason for this was “Our recent changes to Ursa Furiosa to integrate it with the Unbreakable aspect have yet to encourage significant use.” Now, why could this be? Could this be because Unbreakable is a highly specific aspect that only makes sense in 1 build that is useless in the vast majority of the game? Unbreakable (according to Light.gg) is only used by about 5% of Void Titan, this could be for many reasons like the fact that it’s locked behind an entire DLC, or that the aspect is just clunky and makes no sense to use offensively.
Now, the change bothers me because it misses the problem entirely. Ursa wants you to use Unbreakable and Sentinel Shield’s blocking feature together, otherwise you’re wasting half of the exotic, and both parts of the exotic have problems, let's start with the super.
Sentinel Shield’s blocking ability has many problems on it’s own, these include; the duration of the super is pitiful unless people are standing behind you, people need to stand behind the shield which rarely happens outside of coordinated play, other damage boosting sources outpace Sentinel Shield within 17ish seconds, you lose super energy when shot, no input queueing, and worst of all in my opinion you’re susceptible to boops and other CC while blocking (this is made worse due to the fact that Unbreakable , the grenade ability, is immune to boops while blocking while Sentinal Shield, the super ability, isn’t). There’s probably more but these are the problems I’ve noticed while using Ursa, which is what this post is about; Ursa Furiosa doesn’t directly fix these issues, it only offers increased uptime by giving more energy and allowing you to move faster than normal when blocking.
Unbreakable is also a trainwreck, I love it, but it’s still a trainwreck. Some of Unbreakable’s problems are things like; contradictory range problems (you need to be further away to consistently build up your damage but the range of the frontal blast is really short so you need to make the distance at some point), PvE enemies with guns and stabby things just LOVE to run up and punch the glowing purple shield of void light that will obviously be disorienting which makes it harder to build up the damage, it feels really clunky to use (go to throw grenade but accidentally block and vice versa), it doesn’t synergize well with the rest of Void TItan’s fragments or aspects, and the fact that you have to actually put effort into getting the reward of the frontal blast for less destructive results then the slide melees. Now, Ursa changes most of Unbreakable’s problems due to a sort of perspective shift, particularly the tech of Unbreakable canceling which allows for a high uptime which results in more super energy because the goal is no longer “take damage to do beefy frontal blast damage” now it’s “take damage for more super energy”. And because the frontal blast is now irrelevant you can sit further back where more enemies have a sightline on you and will be less likely to run up to you like a little goober and attempt to punch the big strong Titan wearing bear fur, so you can consistently get more charge for more super energy. Now I don’t normally suggest fixes to game design problems because I recognise how hard coding is but I did think of a change to normal Unbreakable that would help solve most of its problems and it seems pretty cool to me so, might I suggest, moving the frontal bast to the melee button and change the releasing grenade input to instead throw a souped up grenade that has a larger explosion radius or something, this fixes the contradictory range problems by making the short range shotgun frontal blast an option instead of the default behavior, this allows the Titan to get more use out of their grenade instead of having to commit to the clunky frontal blast or waste an aspect slot.
Okay so I got a little lost in the sauce but I’m going to go to the main point now. The Ursa Furiosa change completely misses the mark in my opinion, the reason Ursa’s usage rate didn’t increase is because Ursa is a mostly defensive exotic (and that isn’t a bad thing it builds into the fantasy of Void Titan) which that’s already a point away from the exotic, but also the ability Ursa’s buffs simply aren’t good and have a lot of problems. Changing Ursa in the way the TWID said it would be is just placing the blame on the fall guy instead of fixing the problems with the abilities themselves. Also, Unbreakable simply doesn’t work on Prismatic Titan, it doesn’t synergise with anything else in Titan’s kit (tho that applies to Prismatic Titan as a whole) so the change for Spirit of the Bear is also moot because Consecration has a higher uptime, is less clunky, and is has a more optimal damage cone and range.
I recognise that the release of Episode: Heresy is too close to stop the Ursa change from going live but I’m still going to post this in hopes that Bungie recognises that Ursa isn’t the problem so the change can be reverted, and hey, a soft rework of some abilities if we’re lucky.

I dont like the Trials changes. But Bungie loves messing the game up to make people want to play it less

Guardian, Archon Of LightArchon Priest Of House Light - old
The change was made mostly with Prismatic in mind and spirit of the bear -
1 ReplyThey won’t rework it. And like you, I’m in that 5% of Sentinels who use Ursa. It was my go to exotic to tank with when orbs dropped like snow.

3 RepliesDon't forget that currently doomfang is a direct competitor to Ursa, while offering a better neutral game.

1 ReplySorry about your build. I’m sick of these changes that make people got WTH were they thinking. The unbreakable aspect is a very niche playstyle. They are trying very hard to get us to use it but between its slow dmg build up and lack of support/buildcradting for it I don’t see people running it outside of a support build to get resets maybe or getting to safety after a super cast. If they made the shield push get the syntho buff or make the shield build work on teammates I can it getting used more.

9 RepliesIt sucks your build is getting wrecked, but the "Fantasy" makes more sense with the change. It will mean more uptime on Unbreakable. Paired with Ashes to Assets and Firepower. I tried playing the Ursa/Unbreakable, didn't feel good. But I may have to restart my Titan for this change.

5 RepliesWith the changes to roaming supers, sentinel charges very fast anyways. You’ll refund 50% of your super though the block and then have another very quick after. Now you’ll also have infinite grenade spam. Players are already theory crafting builds utilizing the new unbreakable buffs. As seen here. You can still have extremely high super uptime, but now you’ll also have extremely high grenade ability uptime.

3 RepliesYou can use Unbreakable on Prismatic, I usually have it on for a free over-shield that can create a wall, also I like to use Unbreakable more of an attack at close range if I run out of Consecration melees.

13 RepliesThe way they worded it makes it seem like it’s going to be very very good. Bungie dosent usually say they might roll back a buff before it even happens. With ursa you might just be able to walk through enemy fire and blast them in the face.
