This is a very Guy Ritchie movie, right down to the music; honestly, I'm quite sure some of it was used in 'Lock, Stock.........' and the subsequent film which shall remain nameless because it would illicit a -blam-. That's a damn shame really, because it was just as good if not better than 'Lock' but never mind that now.
Having never seen the original show on which this movie is based I have no real way of comparing the two but just on this movie's merits alone I would definitely recommend giving it a watch, especially if you enjoyed other films from the director.
A sequel was implied at the end and would've been great I think, had it not been for Armie Hammer's..........*ahem*........ legal woes. I don't know much about all that and won't delve into it but I imagine it's rendered any likelihood of a sequel very improbable along with a poor box-office showing of this one.
Still, it isn't as though movies that didn't do well in the theaters never go on to be seen as classics so if you have a few hours to kill, give it a shot; it may surprise you.
The next movie I plan to watch is 'Tarot' (2024) and if it isn't an utter flop, or maybe because it is, this is likely to be my next "recommend/pass" post.
