Before you answer, I don’t have the money to sink into the game as I used to; I will be mostly free to try out the new core gameplay- until I can actually afford to possibly invest.
So the main question I ask is, is it worth the investment? From what I’ve heard from many, into the light is a great time to come back- but after I’ve played this game on and off for so long, I don’t want to waste my money anymore; on something I won’t spend more than a week or two playing.

Yes it's worthy. Onslaught alone is pretty solid.

Arguably, the game has never been more accessible. Sure, the new player experience just terrible, but they let you skip it now.

Edited by The Hermit IX: 4/20/2024 4:22:13 PMBig yes if you’re a FTP player. Onslaught and the weapons won’t cost you a dime. You have access to the Thunderlord chest which gives you gear at current level. The weapons are all top notch too so you’ll be able to farm some best in class weapons right out of the gates. If you play PvP, they’ve invested a lot into improving it as well. This forum is a cesspool of negativity and constant bashing so basing your choice on responses here is a bad idea. Theres nothing holding you back from trying it on your own and seeing what you think before you buy FS which looks fantastic.

Into the light is another grind, onslought gets old very fast I hate I am going to have to grind it even more for shiny weapons case I can't resist time limited items But, no one can honestly tell you if you will like it or not , the base game is free , has is into the light, so you aren't losing anything for trying it , well except your time -
-
It’s still a grind. Into the light provides a new thing you grind. Whether you’ll enjoy coming back depends on why you stopped playing. It’s very likely that the reason(s) you stopped playing are still the same now.

Honestly? Not really so many issues being ignored by Bungie, Glitches . Error codes, invis players and enemy. Been here since D1 , Free? meh free time is all you need

Definitely not… grind has replaced content… -
Same old same old, little things here & there are better but it's still the same stale play loop in the same old stale content.

This is the best time since Shadowkeep to be a free to play player. You get Dares of Eternity, Onslaught, the Whisper mission, Prophecy, three raids, access to weapon crafting, Mara Sov's wish quests (can get you new exotics & last wish weapons), new exotics through Vex incursions, all the light subclasses with 3.0 updates, & some other stuff I can't remember.
-
Personally it’s pretty fun right now. I got back into raiding last night and finished crota ever since D1.
-
Sure, the game is still good. Just stay off the negativity hamster wheel that is the forum. Very few ppl can come here and not be soured imo.

Avoid Crucible, dabble in Onslaught, embrace Gambit.

Game is equivalent to those FOMO mobile games nowadays. I’d wait for anything and everything to go on sale if you plan on getting it, ‘cause you’re most likely not missing out on much.

No. The way the game is set up now, you’ll get overwhelmed by Bungie’s stupid new menus and old content that isn’t worth it anymore. The game has basically done a 180 of what it previously was back in SK/ Forsaken. If those were the last times you played, I’d would recommend not hopping on so you can keep those as your freshest memories. The game has now gone from passion to greed and complacency. The Eververse shop has taken priority over the rest of the game and we now have 100$+ expansions as a thing. -
-
It’s still a fire game and fun in moderation. A lot has changed though so it will take a bit to get up to speed. If you have any questions do ask
-
You should give onslaught and the raid boss gauntlet ( forgot the name) a try, they are both free and shaxx has a chest that gets you to pinnacle power right away so no need to grind for it
-
The current popular content 'into the light' is free, it's activity is overall pretty fun and different, and it has some of the best weapons we've ever seen as rewards. Pretty good time to jump back in as a free to play player.

Depends, if you take games too seriously then no. If you like killing aliens, getting loot and talking trash in party chat then yes
