I don’t know why people are saying shiny drops are so rare… I’ve done the first 10 rounds of Onslaught probably 5 times, so 50 rounds total. Between Engrams from Shaxx, Trophies, and the rounds, I’ve gotten 5 shiny drops. Mind you, like 3 of these were Hung Jury, so I actually deleted one of my shinys because I got a better roll, but regardless, I’ve had no problem with loot drops. Not saying Onslaught doesn’t have its kinks… I think reaching Wave 50 is stupid and should be substantially shortened, preferably to 30 waves and you get a guaranteed shiny drop. I also think that the scrap costs are outrageous and should be heavily reduced.

  • This past week ive farmed about 50 hours + turned in over 600 tokens and gotten 3 shinies... yeah the drop rate are totally fine

    Yeah, well, I've done 14 onslaught boss kills, 9 of them on legend, including the bonus chest from clearing the final boss; completed two of the weekly bounties this week; and gotten at least 20 drops from the chest next to shaxx, and received a grand total of ZERO shinies. It's almost like they removed them from the game for me entirely. Which also leads me to believe that Bungie is employing addiction tactics to the game mode used in many f2p games. Load up the loot from the get go to get people hooked, but then cut them off drastically to keep them chasing.

I was getting a shiny from every Shaxx engram. I was 3 for 3 and I genuinely thought that the Shaxx engrams were just guaranteed shiny drops… but this definitely isn’t new for me, my RNG is crazy. I couldn’t even tell you how many god rolls I’ve gotten of weapons on my first drop. I got Vex on my first VoG run, I got -blam!- Messenger on my first flawless, and then afterwards, I went to Saint to open up some engrams, and out of my very first engrams I got -blam!- Astral. Some people just get lucky ig. But my RNG isn’t always good, like I’ve done 25 RoN runs and no Conditional, I finally got a 4/5 Rose the other day. Bungie might do that, they’re notorious for adding carrot on a stick elements in secret. Like in D1 when they put the XP throttling system in secret so that the longer you play, the slower you progress. The community was pissed about that one. All in all, I think a lot of it is RNG, but Bungie could reward players who actually spend time in the mode. Like me, I’ve only done like 50 total rounds, and I already have several god rolls. I have yet to touch 2 out of the 3 of them. That’s not fair that I get to have that when there’s players that have done 200 rounds of Onslaught and they would kill to have the rolls I have. The more time you invest, the better the return should be. I.E. Shaxx resets give more perks per column for better RNG, more ways to get guaranteed Shinys, more Trophy drops.

  • Yeah, I get RNG, but that's why there needs to be at least one guaranteed drop, for instance, from completing the final boss on the legend onslaught. Even with a guaranteed drop, there's still rng in getting the roles you want from the drop.
