Bungie needs to seriously consider re-adding story content.
Haven’t played much destiny since Forsaken but I plan on returning for the Final Shape. (Since then I’ve passed on the account to my younger brother). The story since then seems interesting but it’s a jumbled mess of quests that lack the context of seasons that are no longer in the game. Also going over the red war, and forsaken quests again would be nice to refresh my memory.
The impact of The Final Shape won’t be the same for many new and returning players if they don’t understand the stories leading up to it. It’s crazy to me that there isn’t already some kind of campaign playlist or something. If bungie plans on adding more content to destiny 2 they’ll eventually have to find a way to keep the current content in the game without removing it.

1 ReplyThey could use the legends tab to put the missions from removed dlc or seasons in there for people. Or they could make a video highlighting what has happened up to this point in the game.

4 RepliesI would love to have the old campaigns back, even the terrible Curse of Osiris one, so that I could play them at will. Even the seasonal story missions as well, I barely remember the early seasons and could use a refresher. But this also isn't about what I want, consider a brand new player (that poor soul) who hops in to a broken mishmash of a story. Who is Devrim Kay and why is he important to the story? Mithrax? Aren't we at war with the Fallen I just killed in my New Light missions? Who in the world is this Sloane character? A Hive lady telling me to give her tribute? This Awoken queen and an awkward npc Guardian are siblings? That's just this past DLC. I fell in love with the lore after playing the old campaigns and learning more in the seasonal content. Looking back at what we have now, I would never have given this game a second thought. That is a huge loss when it comes to new player retention. There really has to be a better way to let players experience the old content, they got so close with the Timeline Reflections but haven't touched it since. Bungie needs to keep adding to that, much more than they currently are.

3 RepliesI agree...I got into Destiny 1 because of the story...after getting it, I was excited about the gun play... It's a relaxation at the end of the day game for me... I still haven't pre ordered, and it the first time in all the years I haven't pre ordered day 1... I just hope if it ends, it ends on a good point ..no cliff hangers if they drop the game after TFS...

2 RepliesI had an idea previously when having the same thoughts as you. When we boot up the game for the first time ever or in a long time, we get promoted to visit Ikora to pick up aspects and fragments by “meditating”. I’m fine with the concept, but to spend Glimmer, kneel and leave with power is a bit underwhelming. I think Ikora and her Hidden could repurpose or derive a device based on FWC machinery, where our consciousness would whether the device and run through memories and mission logs of events that have already happened, to help us for the wars to come. On a weekly rotation, we have the opportunity to replay 3 “vaulted” missions on regular and heroic difficulties, for your standard rewards but to learn weapon patterns of gear from that period of the game no longer accessible.

This is not a time for even more reused assets. In the interest of saving money here is the story of Luna's Howl: First it was a 180, then it was a 150, then it was a 140, somewhere along the line it was ripped from the game, fast forward to today and its been put back into the game as a torture device to torture us.

7 RepliesHow ? Look what’s happening and has been happening the last 6 months?! You are dreaming right now . We have the horde mode coming , FS then random episode which will be your story content . It’s not looking great for Bungie right now . Marathon isn’t going as they expected and are constantly having to change directions with the game . Bringing back old weapons that were sunsettwd was obviously going to happen eventually…..Bungie are desperate right now 🤷🏼♂️
