Help me come up with a magic weapon

Good evening everybody! This is Aifos coming to you alive from Greeneville, where I am writing my second book! Yes that's right, my second book! Have you not heard of the first? Well now you have, right here! In any case, there is a weapon I've been trying to come up with for the sequel since it's inception, and I've had one idea but I'm not totally sure how I feel about it, so maybe you silly Offtopic people can help! If you've read the first book, the weapon that needs to be designed follows the rule of PHM magic. If you haven't read the first book, no worries! Just give me your suggestions, and I can adapt them! So here's the general premise of how this works; People are able to summon MAGIC weapons. These MAGIC weapons take shape subconsciously based on their personalities. Sometimes this is super obvious--someone who's super overprotective, and maybe a little bit clingy might get the ability to summon a shield, that can transform into a bubble to keep people close. Other times it can get pretty symbolic, such as summoning a throwing weapon decorated with the symbol of part of your life that you really hate to symbolize how much you want to throw it away, but then it has a recall ability to reference how that life always comes back to you no matter how hard you try to get rid of it! Here's the personality The core personality trait we're trying to represent is someone who decided to move on from the past, and to fight for and protect the things they value in this life now. Someone -blam!- that who they were years ago isn't as important as who they are now, and someone who only just realized the value of the light they have in their life in the present. Now gimme your ideas! These weapons are MAGIC and have all sorts of crazy MAGIC abilities, so feel free to go as crazy or plain as you want. The weapon can be medieval, modern, futuristic, whatevers. Any and all ideas are welcome, just as long as they somehow represent the personality trait listed above. And, if it's not too much trouble, please spell out the symbolism. :D Here was my idea:
I was thinking a pair of gauntlets that utilize a bunch of light based magic. Like, firing out energy blasts, creating light barriers, that sort of thing. Sort of like, holding onto the light in his life, y'know with gauntlets that have light magic! A hand, holding onto light! But I'm kind of iffy on this idea. Something about it just feels kind of off. Feedback on my idea is appreciated just as much as your own suggestions!
Tl;dr? Here's my point! I'm trying to create a weapon for my book. There are rules, read above. Gimme suggestions. 'K? 'K! That's all for now folks! Jambuhbye!

Here's the idea so far, in case someone wants to build off of something rather than start from scratch: The weapon is going to be a glaive (thanks RAD), a weapon whose length and fighting style represent looking forward rather than back. They're also associated with defense, with the whole "defending what matters to me now" thing. The handle is going to be mostly solid, with engravings of a wren and a robin on it, while the end is tipped off with a bird talon. These are symbols of the character's dark past. As you get closer to the blade, however, the weapon transitions from being solid to being made purely of light. Having the handle represent his past shows he's not hiding it anymore, but that the weapon transforms into light as it gets closer also shows that he's no longer being held back by it--that the thing that matters most is the light in his life now. The light part of the weapon can change shape, as a representation of the future not being set in stone, and always up to change. (Thanks Breaking!) He also has the ability to call upon some spooky darkness magic to create a dome-shaped barrier around him. This barrier dispels itself in a small explosion damaging things around it. The darkness is a representation of his past, and being able to dispel it in an explosion represents how it no longer keeps him trapped anymore, however, using the darkness to shield him and his friends shows how it's exactly that dark past that's helped him realize the value of the things he has in his life now. (Thanks Emilz!) Tbh, I'm pretty satisfied with it as is, but further ideas are still welcome!

    • A Lantern- acts as a focus for arcane and Light based spells. Is literally a source of light. I'm just throwing a spitball at your wall.

      • I'll try something. This might sound like a weapon/ability I would've added in my own story..... Perhaps a double-bladed energy sword. One side is light/good, and that side can fire lasers that heal, representing a noble, more generous side. The other side is dark/evil, and fires lasers that deal damage and cause mass destruction, representing a malicious side.

Hmm... I'm thinking something along the lines of a summonable group of life-sized chess pawns. I know that doesn't sound like a conventional weapon, but hear me out! In chess, the pawn can only move forward. It can never look back until it has achieved its goal (in the case of a pawn, that would be crossing the board and becoming a queen). No matter how many misplays were made in previous turns, the pawn cannot go back. That life is behind it now, and the pawn is only concerned with the options that lie before it. In combat, the pawns would act as non-sentient soldiers, attacking alongside or in place of the wielder controlling them. As pawns, they have limited mobility and can only appear within a small range around the controller. They can charge forward a fair distance, but cannot return after being sent ahead. The more interesting part is still to come, however. Upon reaching its goal, the pawn becomes a queen. As the most powerful piece on the board, the queen has seized its destiny and now offers incredible offensive and defensive capabilities. With its incredible range of motion, the queen can both protect pieces on its side and threaten opposing pieces at the same time. When your character is fighting with true resolve to protect the new life they've chosen, their army of pawns coalesces into a single queen. What it lacks in numbers, it makes up for in its ability to attack and protect more effectively and appear wherever it may be needed, crossing the battlefield in mere moments to counterattack in defense of an ally or to crush lone enemies that left themselves open. That said, the queen itself is just as fragile as a pawn, so it can't take too much of a beating before being removed from the board. I don't know if this fits within the realm of reason for being a "weapon" in your book, but I hope the idea is at least interesting enough to inspire you.

          • Shurikens that are blindingly bright when thrown forward, but appear to made of shadow when thrown behind. Symbolizes light ahead, and darkness being behind. It's a little heavy handed, but I think it might work.
Sorry if this doesn't align with your magic system, I read all of wheel of time between now and when I read heart of the world, so I don't remember some of the details.
• Maybe something like a short sword or tactical knife that can only be used for deflection but “auto deflects?” The complexity/efficiency of the deflection patters can be increased by the weapon based on the level of guilt the welder uses based on who the weapon is trying to deflect, lower guilt=better performance and vice versa.

                • Not exactly a full blown idea, but maybe have a symbol on the weapon that’s scratched out. A color change could signify the change as well.

                  • I like the idea of a light weapon. Maybe, since he does have a darkish past he wants to move on from, it could be a light based weapon but have a singular very powerful dark ability, but he never uses it. He refuses to tap into the dark no matter the strength. Even though the light is not as strong as the dark may seem, he has the mastery over the light to be an indispensable warrior. Maybe there’s a big fight that requires him to make the decision to use the darkness once to protect his allies. The use of darkness weighs on his mind, but he realizes he should not be ashamed of the darkness. Even though the light is and will be the focus of his life moving forward, the darkness is useful at times, and regardless, it’s what got him to the light

Alrighty, I’ll give it a try. A sword, it can be any kind, I don’t have a particular one in mind. The hilt has symbols or memories somehow from the characters past engraved into it. The blade gets brighter and brighter towards the tip, where it is just pure light. The hilt represents that while they recognize their past and still have a hold on it (the hilt), they are fighting with the light of the present (the blade). I’m sure that can be tweaked a bit and made better, so let me know what you think.

A dulled zweihander/claymore/flamberge or something to that effect of knighty. Maybe gets sharper the more they have something to fight for. Could make a good shounen flashback finishing move moment. If you want that “disillusioned knight looking for repentance” feel Or Two shield gauntlets, if you wanna do gauntlets. Maybe a magic grapple-chain of light to “maintain aggro” and keep enemies in proximity. If you want more literal on the protect those behind them thing. ——— Edit: how important is this character in a scale from 1-10? 10 being main character, 1 being a red shirt

A bow and arrow that (if the wielder wishes) can teleport them to the destination of the arrow. Bow and arrows represent journeys, learning, trajectory and forward momentum (literally and figuratively), and the teleportation symbolises the person’s willingness and power to implement their own change and choose their destination regardless of their past. (Could be any projectile weapon really, a javelin, a throwing axe, something more versatile if the character doesn’t otherwise suit a bow and arrow)

                                • Perhaps a glaive would be your best option symbolically, as the length and fighting style represents change and someone who's looking forward, and they're usually associated with guarding things and people. As for abilities, firing energy blasts is always cool, but maybe a tad boring. You should give it the ability to slice nearly anything and melt stuff cleanly with the blade, but have the butt slow in motion what it touches, so both ends have a practical use, justifying cool fight choreography and more tactical, extraneous usages.
