The 40$ bundle is an abismal mess.
My wife and her friend bought the special destiny 40$ pack and the introduction is pure mess
It just dumps the player into the main page,a lame cut scene and then : go do whatever
At first they did do "new light" but after that, where's all the old expansions?
There's a jumble of missions,no indication of proper order,I had to fumble around with them,find the timeline and from there hope between the planet to find the forsaken missions (like,two-cayde who?)
Then the shadowkeep mission is just thrown around...
I've been playing since day one and I was lost! Their map menu was loaded with different expansion emblems,a strating cut scene to lightfall,a call to meet mara at the farm....
I'm so upset.
I was so excited to show the game I care about so much ,and it is an horrible experience.
Why isn't there just a pop up saying" start here in x order"?
One tab for new light that shows all the timeline missions they need to do to see the dreaming city,the moon, Europe
They were sent to Neptune before unlocking their subclass.
And ofc throughout every part I need to explain who this person is,for the minute or two they appear because their entire history is vaulted.
If this is how new players are introduced,my favorite game will die.
I'm so sad.

That's what $40 gets you in Destiny. Confusion, annoyance, and regret. The Humble Bundle deal is a way better value for a new player. I mean I assume, I don't actually know what they bought.

theres no progression. no early game back in the day you started at level 1 and you had to level up and complete the main quest(s) to unlock the endgame stuff. that early game was what introduced you to game, its gameplay, its mechanics, its world. now you just start the game at the max level and can go do last wish right out the gate

Have your wife and her friend start an online engineering degree program with Georgia Tech in order to figure out the mod system and what gun or armor goes with what. At the same time have them get absolutely blasted by everything which means they can't do any dungeons, nightfalls, or most anything Neomuna. Quit now while you are ahead. Forgot to add the infamous kwtd...which means do not try. If you don't know a raid or dungeon within 12 hours of its launch you are F'ed.

Well, yeah the story makes no sense to hop in now. Starting in D2 was better with Red War as it was an intro and campaign. Now it will start with a Lightfall mission, New Light missions for subclass but no set direction. New players will be lost as to what they are getting into, and without context the story will be out of sequence. Basically, Forsaken isn't there aside from Dreaming City, you start with Shaw Han and do the Light subclass quests. After that you go to Shadowkeep and work your way through that and then go through Beyond Light, Witch Queen, and lastly Lightfall. New Lights will be lost as hell as to whats going on but thats how Bungie made it for the New Light experience. Bungie isn't going to draw in and entice new players, you will have to physically guide new or returning players.

You know what? That one guy is so out of touch when talking about it "I think in the same way we don't want eight raids, it's the same thing with storylines," Truman told Eurogamer previously. "We don't want when a new player enters into Destiny, there's five different competing storylines that they could start playing and in some of them, Uldren's a good guy, and in some of them he's a bad guy, and it's not clear if you're playing them out of order." 1 ReplyFirst time? Introduced over 10 friends to this game and been saying this since Forsaken. The player on boarding is absolutely terrible. Mobile games are better at it.

Considering the former popularity, the franchise already is considered dead. Their trash DCV and sunsetting were setting up for failure. Imagine if they simply removed Azeroth from world of warcraft and you simply started on the dragon isles when you start fresh nowadays. And all you can do to understand the past is to watch some youtube videos. That would be unacceptable right? Yet Bungie did it with Destiny and not enough player complain. The DCV was the worst thing to ever happen to D2 right after their pitty excuse to resell us old weapons via sunsetting. I am also a day 1 player with thousands of hours. But if i was you, i would tell your wife and friend to stay away as far as possible from this nowadays mess of a game. A formerly awesome franchise has been ruined by greed and lazyness. Best to play anything else these days sadly. I personally never recommend this game to anyone i know anymore. A few years back, i was telling everyone how awesome it is. I personally hope that more players realize how bad the game really is nowadays and make these greedy clowns lose as much money as possible.

I played the new light multiple times and no it doesn't make more sense the second or third time, it's a hot mess not good for new players

I’m playing as a new light (deleted my characters a few weeks ago). I have all expansions. Played through the intro quest ‘A Guardian rises’ that concludes with the Disgraced strike. My guardian ‘power’ can get to 1641 (1658 inc the artifact bonus). My featured quests now are New Light: Quid Pro Quo (play Gambit) Campaign: Lightfall - First Contact mission Seasonal: Final Wish - go see Riven Exotic: Taming the Storm I’m kinda surprised that the Lightfall campaign is being promoted prior to having completed any of the older dlcs. Especially with how comparatively punishing Neomuna can be in comparison to everywhere else. The lack of a coherent path beyond ‘A guardian rises’ notwithstanding, this ‘fresh start’ is the most I’ve enjoyed the game in a long time.

1 ReplyThat’s the problem with Content Vaulting. People knew this would happen when Bungie first announced the DCV back during Beyond Light. Bungie needs to make Destiny like Warframe, Keep all the Content and if you have to Vault something, they need to find Eververse Items to Vault. They can vault anything else if they want, just not Content. Luke Smith really effed up Destiny with his WoW Ideas.
