Hard to "find" new lights to help
TL;DR i want to reach out and offer help to any new lights in need.
as a vet player i want to reach out to new players and help them get going and grow but its kind of tough to find them and reach out.
FTF(beta) isnt the greatest for new players as the system is still kind of choppy
LFG (3rd party) is more of a if you know you know and thus is not often filled with New lights that could use a helping and.
Trying to find and reach out in game they dont understand im here to help or just can't be communicated with as a lot of their coms are set to friends only, is that the new default?
and local chat just does nothing lol.
and i dont expect socials or the forums to be any better, heck streaming wont help much either.
the guided games system was "nice" in practice but there should be a system for vets to say hey i'll help the new kids. might help for those that get lost in the first launch...

My advice for finding new lights is A. Go to the cosmodrome and help them or B. Try and find some in the tower

2 RepliesUnfortunately a lot of New Lights really don't want help like that. I've picked up plenty of New Lights and tried getting them endgame ready so they can tackle whatever comes their way, but a lot of them really aren't all that interested. I think most just want to goof around and explore

Cosmodrome is your friend

When I go to the cosmodrome, I see lots of NLs there; often, with a higher ranked buddy. I usually go and level-up weapon bounties in the area where the tank spawns…and there’s usually a few NLs here. If I see they need help with the yellow captains, I’ll wade in…same goes for public events anywhere else. If I get a msg for help, I’ll respond accordingly: I think most reasonable Guardians do the same! ✅ What would help NLs seeking assistance would be if they could activate a ‘need help’ tag / glow / marker, so we could respond more quickly. 👈 Ease springs! 🫡

I've had fantastic success / experience on both sides of that coin every time I've gone into the in-game Fireteam Finder. Let's remember, Fireteam Finder is in Beta. I believe all of the function anyone could want is / could be found there with just a little tweaking. Could be as simple as adding a tab.

Part of the problem for new lights is that the game has seemingly become unfriendly to new people. First in part by some fireteam finder stuff being, "Be rank 11 or kick" sort of things or because of the $300 price tag on what is called a free to play game but is instead a free to try. Unless they are playing with a friend and, most likely, said friend forked over the $300 for them if they didn't pay themselves, Bungie has basically failed in bringing in newer players. Crucible is worse as they haven't fixed sbmm or the abundance of hackers that are ruining what was already a toxic gamemode.
