Because they made up story on the go. It was never supposed to be good or without plot holes. It just had to have begging, end and make somewhat sense.

I know and their retcons just make it even worse. The Witness thinks the Traveler is dead and thus humanity is saved. Yet it got Vex minions to make the Black Heart, despite not being able to use it, and somehow they didn’t tell him the Traveler was alive? And neither did the Hive who had used their rituals to tether to it and drain it? And it didn’t bother touching the Traveler to find the Veil… He didn’t trust Savathun but didn’t do anything…except send a minion to watch her? Why bother? If she ain’t trustworthy then kill her, why leave the chance? It’s just so stupid.

Not every answer or detail needs to be given to us simultaneously. As far as the Collapse is concerned, we've gotten a great many details in recent years. Savathun was just one reason we survived the Collapse. [i]Lightfall[/i] all but confirmed the role she played in protecting the Traveler and turning the tides. She killed Nezarec and cursed his remains so he couldn't reveal her duplicity, stole the Veil, and hid it away on Neptune. Meanwhile, the Traveler fell into a dormant state after it fought during the Collapse. Without the Veil and with the Traveler in a death-like state, there was no way the Witness could enact its plans. Without the Veil, the Witness attempted to create a substitute with the Black Heart, using the Sol Divisive to cultivate it and connect it to the Traveler for when it did finally wake up. The Black Heart did not work as intended, but its existence alone was able to corrupt Guardians to the Witness' side in Elsie's past timelines. Its destruction was where our timeline diverged from all the others. The Witness always knew where the Traveler was, but a dormant Traveler wasn't of use to it. That's why it only made its move when the Traveler woke up during the Red War. An active Traveler could be used to find the Veil, and its plans enacted from there. Tl;dr: The Collapse ended with the Veil missing and the Traveler falling into a death-like dormancy. The Witness couldn't make the portal to the Pale Heart without the Veil, and it couldn't use a dormant Traveler to find where the Veil was. As a result, the Witness had no reason to personally return to Sol until the Traveler reawakened at the end of the Red War.

Which, according to you, is useless when the Traveler is dormant? So it was an utterly pointless thing to attempt, according to you. So how does that make any sense? You also ignore the fact that his Vex minions who made it knew the truth. So Bungie screwed up trying to tie in loose threads and people like you blow smoke to cover. You also assume the traveler had to be healthy for the witness to locate the veil. I’ve yet to see anything showing that. The story making sense to you is because you ignore inconsistencies and just assume reasons. So that’s a you problem. I’d have some respect for your position if you had the honesty to admit the story has inconsistencies but they did their best to smooth it over. But instead you act like because the whole story hasn’t been told that we are just being problematic.

Oh your words aren’t the issue. It’s the contradiction they represent. Savathun supposedly saves us by deceiving the Witness. Where’s the deception there? That sounds exactly like the truth. And if it needed to wait till it woke to use it…and it could locate the real Veil just by touching it after it woke, that excludes the need to make a replacement at a time when it’s worthless. The BH wouldn’t work anyways because the Traveler isn’t awake Or It’s not needed because the original could be located when it woke up anyway. Negating the need to make it. Not to mention Leaving it in the hands of enemies to be used against you and unravel your eons long scheme. But then they wouldn’t of been able to tie off the BH. Consistency/logic < expedience Thanks Bungies storytelling philosophy. And you lap it up with glee. And yet you do. So you don’t. And yet you do. If he knew it was going to wake up, why did it sit in dark space and let us work against it? Why did it try making a copy instead of locating the original? Had more than a century to wipe us out and capture the Traveler and wait for it heal or heal it himself and then exploit it. But sitting around doing nothing while his enemies unravel his plans makes sense. Not evidence, assumption. And yet you still do. So you’re not busy. And if you had better things to do you would. Wrong angle to belittle someone with, it implicates you in the process. You just know your counterpoints are just more assumptions so you have shaky ground at best. But I’m glad you outed yourself calling your assumptions “evidence”. Makes my job easier. 🤦

How do I put this? I'm saying you're too wrapped in wanting to hate something that you either can't see, or willfully don't want to see, how the story as it's unfolded so far makes sense. That your claims that "it doesn't make sense" don't hold up. Because if all your complaints turn out to be wrong and aren't validated, where does that leave you?
