1 ReplyEdited by ManatuBear: 9/21/2023 6:04:32 AMIn practical terms, it was season filler. Tune in next week for the 3rd elemental attunement!

The tiny bit of lore it infers and nothing else unfortunately. The tiny bit of lore being that the Imbaru Chamber is how Savathûn kept her worm fed in her down time.

In failing to understand, you give Savathun tribute. Good job HERO.

11 RepliesEdited by jhermannITJ: 9/20/2023 11:49:49 PMTo show us the futility of our efforts... in part defining what is the Endless Night. Savathun controls, has controlled both sides of the ball. It doesn't matter what chests you choose... the whole thing is a sham, rigged. Here's reddit post by someone who independent of me... agrees with this, it's well written... I'll quote the explantion after the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyLore/comments/16n2n98/s22_spoilers_what_the_imbaru_engine_reveals/ "Straight to the point, I will explain what Imbaru is for those who have forgotten or memory escapes on what it is. As Ikora explains in this week's introduction into the Engine, it is Savathun's reinterpretation of Oryx's Sword Logic & tribute system. It is a bit more than that however; instead of cutting away the universe down until only the strongest remain, until those that have taken until nothing can be taken remain, and until those that defy the logic are eaten and consumed, it is a tribute system that works and sustains itself on the accumulation of secrets and the failure to understand Savathun and any of her machinations. It is a subversion and workaround of the logic itself; The first record of such a system is referenced in Truth to Power, a book crafted by Savathun herself in order to mantle her. However, with the existence of the Imbaru Engine, nevermind Imbaru itself existing, it reveals a second, underlying purpose to Truth to Power itself; the book itself was a trap and reveals that that was Savathun's method of generating tribute at the rate she wanted to at the time she had crafted this book. Through Guardians reading through, becoming confused, failing to understand the intention of the book, and discourse & discussion become rampant, Savathun gourged upon this; it appears the fears of guardians before cautioning the book itself were not unfounded. Understand this, Imbaru is not something that can be combatted as of current; it is a system that targets, attacks and entangles itself to the very nature and foundation of the concept of Understanding and the scientific method itself. This is something that can be supported as you proceed through the test in this week's Cunning Test in The Imbaru Engine; when you fail the test, Savathun laughs, but even as you succeed, Savathun laughs. Success and failure are both activation keys as even as you complete the test, you are notified that you have conjured Cunning, you have tithed to Savathun".

Edited by whateverman7: 9/21/2023 6:01:31 PMTo show that savathun has rigged the game so that she wins no matter what. When we fail in the engine, she gets tribute. When we beat the engine, she gets tribute. Basically, it's the perfected tribute gathering machine she created from what she learned from the dreaming city curse and the pit of heresy. Other 'engines' that give her tribute, except those, made us stronger as well, the imbaru engine doesn't.

Imbaru is Savathun's version of Oryx's Sword Logic. When you open the wrong one it makes Imbaru stronger. I have a feeling it was to set up a future enemy to deal with.

This a mandatory quest?
