Giving up on you, Bungie

You've made it abundantly clear that you don't care about my time. From taking away taking away ritual playlist engrams every season to passive aggressive currency caps like the Nightfall tokens, you're ready to clip our wings at every opportunity. The latest TWAB says it all. You really thought it was clever and cute saying "although Drifter is probably proud of your methods..." but I see well beyond that. You just admit you identify the player-base on the premise that everyone is a cheater and/or uses exploits so you feel justified on taking an entire currency from us despite what was earned by legit means, anything to feel empowered to continue to force us to play for longer and harder, while still being completely tone deaf to the real issue at hand. Your game SUCKS at rewarding players, so players feel OBLIGATED to use any and all exploit they are able to take advantage of. Here's the thing, I normally would agree with your decision, yes L.shards are a SMALL problem for the game with all the exploits blowing up, It would be fair to level the playing field to an extent, but choosing to outright provide nothing in exchange while pretending like your game has any semblence of an economy? You are acting out of spite. You've never done right by the players for YOUR mistakes. years of game-breaking bugs that make entire builds/exotics/playlists inaccessible or unviable without any effort to offer your players reparations. The message you have been screaming at us with this practice all along has just been "Deal with it." As a live service game, you're at the bottom of the barrel in terms of respecting your players. Most live service games would offer some sort of item or currency in exchange for their mistakes, the only time you've ever done that is once with a "buy 2 alloys for the price of 1" exchange. You could have easily done right by the players by offering stuff like bright dust or a gunsmith rep exchange. ANYTHING besides the disrespectful rug pull you plan to do. Considering all the constant heat you are getting for your questionable practices with the Eververse, you could have knocked out 2 birds with 1 stone. So guess what's going to happen anyway? All the shard-rich players are just going to stock up on everything possible to maintain their advantage. Loaded with banners, enhancement cores, prisms and ascendant shards. If stabilizing the "economy" was your goal, you've only accomplished spitting in our faces while exacerbating the issue. Its a good thing that's not really the goal though... right? Your real goal is to force players to play longer. To suck up our time in these mindlessly repetitive playlists, a practice harnessed by dark gaming psychology to get us to spend more. You all deserve the same fate as Diablo IV. Anyways, I highly doubt anyone at Bungie will give a damn about this post, much less read it, its mostly me just venting into the void. My faith in you guys has been extinguished and I can only hope there is a large enough backlash to make you reconsider your assault on us guardians. If you don't reconsider or add some fort of reparation at LEAST a dramatically improved version of your engram economy, I finally feel empowered enough to delete my characters and walk away. You are now just a Thorn at my side, Bungie.

  •
Your game SUCKS at rewarding players, so players feel OBLIGATED to use any and all exploit they are able to take advantage of.
It does suck because the developer sucks at knowing how to design a game. Let me be clear, this is not an insult, it's an actual fact, and they have proven it multiple times over the years, especially putting people on a project who have no experience. At least the original Bungie knew how to reward their players in spite of all the issues in D1 for their time spent. This one just wants to keep taking from the player while barely offering anything in return, but I guess selling an old $10 item for what, almost a $100 now is respecting your player base that pays your bills, huh? This game was doomed from the beginning, it' never had a chance to be anything other them what it is now in this business hands and that isn't saying much at all.

  • It’s not that they won’t care. It’s that they do not read these. Idk what gave you the idea otherwise

You can play the victim, or you can play the activities you enjoy, for however long you choose. That’s the hard truth a lot of players don’t want to deal with and they’ll direct all their frustration at Bungie to avoid it… then carry on playing. Feedback, criticism and discussion on these forums gets heavily distorted by this kind of venting. To me, it comes across as ‘all talk and no trousers’. Or maybe an unhealthy way to engage with what should be a fun hobby.

Every week brings a new disappointment from Bungie. I cancelled my pre-order for The Final Shape, and this may be the end for me. I am very tired of them increasing the grind incrementally to see how much players will tolerate. Having crafted every possible weapon, I know for a fact that having a large amount of Glimmer is important when you want to level up a weapon immediately. With the loss of Shards and planetary materials Bungie removed the necessary resources and they increased the grind. At this point I am thinking about when, not if, might be the right time to leave forever. If the impact of the Shard loss is too great, then I am done after next season at the latest.

So this Legendary Shard change is due to EXPLOITS? Why not simply wipe all shard gains during the period when the exploit was active, or wipe out all shards above an arbitrary but high amount to claw back from only exploiters? You're absolutely right, this is spiteful. Legendary shards are the skeleton key used to allow you to specialize in a crucible only gameplay loop. Without them you're basically forced to "do chores" for 1h+ to stock up on glimmer. I work 60-80h weeks. I don't have time to do chores.

      • Bungle never even considers whether the players will like a change. They could have run a poll to see how we, the paying customers, felt about it. Everything is decided by greed and ego and their attitude is take it or leave it. I get closer to leave it every week. I am not buying the next expansion.

        • I feel you, bro. They don't seem to give a single -blam!- about veteran players, which is absolutely -blam!- because we are the ones who have spent the most money and helped them stay popular. I'm a D1 veteran and I'm so close to just dropping it all on it's -blam!-...they just keep making stupid -blam!- decisions for no reason at all. It's almost like they WANT to destroy their own cash cow.

        • Hit the nail on the head with your post. Bungie will either ignore this, or delete the thread entirely and pretend everything's hunky-dory. Well I say we give them a 'preview' of what's to come if they continue to be greedy and tone-deaf to the playerbase: don't log in, don't play D2 for a long while. Take a break from D2. Surely, bringing the daily player count down with a substantial drop will open their eyes and make them reconsider, right? Play Deep Rock Galactic, or any other game out there that has devs that actually respect their playerbase and the time, effort and money they sink into their games. Leave Bungie in the dust, it's what they deserve at this point.

Nailed it. Too bad BungLe doesn't care even a tiny bit. I think it's actually funny the lazy clowns at BungLe think they deserve more money, lol.

          • You got it! Unfortunately they don't give a -blam!- about it. The only thing they care about is money. Every decision they make, every change they implement, has one goal. Get you to spend more money. So, the only thing that can catch their attention is to stop purchasing. And I mean 'everything'. From Eververse, to DLCs, Dungeon Keys, Season Passes, Special Event Upgrades.... I personally have ceased any kind of purchase since the end of Witch Queen. And every time I see a new low in this company's policies, it's a confirmation that I was right. I won't stop playing. I've paid hundreds of dollars for the content I still have access to (after everything that had been removed over the years, that is). So I see no reason for not making use of it. But I will not waste any more money on this... game... or live service... or whatever they want to call it nowadays. If you don't agree with what they are doing, I'd suggest you vote with your wallet.
