Cross save
I'm trying to unlink my steam account so i can later sync another one but it deems the steam one the "active" so if I try to unlink them my characters stay on the steam account but i would need them on the micrrosft I can later relink to my new steam account

Characters are permanently bound to the platform account. Your cross-save active profile is your Steam - and all progress made across your platforms was made towards your Steam account. You cannot transfer those characters to another platform so that you can change your linked Steam accounts. If you wish to change Steam accounts in your cross-save you will be starting over without your characters.
