Difficulty should be elective, not forced

I personally really enjoy the challenge increase. But I see so many people who don’t. And sometimes I really don’t want to get absolutely massacred by a thresher when I’m just trying to chill. I love this concept, but it should be something people get to choose when launching activities, not a set difficulty that they are forced into. Rewards should scale. You’re almost there with this change (and hopefully removing power soon). Difficulty just needs to be elective. To clarify: I am referring to activities with one set difficulty that you’re forced into. Those need options. And if you pick the harder one, rewards should scale to whatever the equivalent is on the elective scale.

There’s also normal and legendary. Rewards do indeed scale according to difficulty. Threshers will do that to you at any level. I would expect them to get nerfed soon.

    • People who complain the game is hard are : Using 2 primary weapon / dont super / dont use heavy ammo / dont mod armor / dont use exotic .....

      • Oh but it is elective, you can play normal content, hero, legend, master and grandmaster. If normal content is too difficult for you, that is a skill issue.

        • People would still cry... A LOT. Remember Trials? It was Just for the best (not for me, include). People cried that It was part of the game they paid Bungie let's solo players play, and lot's of loot at their djsponsal. People cried they couldn't reach the Lighthouse and adept weapons. Bungie created the flawless playlist and solo options. People still cry It isn't solo ALL the time. So If you gave options and better loot for the higher difficults, people Will cry, and cry, and cry, cuz they deserve the better loot too. People wants to reap the fruits without planting the seeds, and that's a big problem.

        • Difficulty is elective. You can choose to play another game. That being said I do agree that certain parts of the game need adjusted because for the majority it isn’t fun.

        • They just need to nerf threshers a little bit and most everything would be fine. People are just overreacting.

          • You shouldn’t be forced to handi-cap yourself to have fun in a game This entitlement that “I’m bad make it easier” is the biggest problem we’ve had in destiny for years, since forsaken. I’m glad Bungies made a corse correction

And if you pick the harder one, rewards should scale to whatever the equivalent is on the elective scale.[/quote] Only issue i have is when a boss can kill you in 2 hits Try Avalon on Legend, a cyclops blast can kill you from AoE One of those void launching grenade launchers Minotaurs and some Goblins have will 2 hit you with direct impact Snipers fire insanely fast and deal 1/4th your hp per hit (1/2 if they hit a headshot) Wyverns 1hit and spam that -blam!- The slap rifles though are okay they deal 1/8th your HP and even though its not alot when you got 10 goblind shooting you its alot of damage they can do but it feels normal.

              • There will always be forced difficulty. Otherwise the game just tells you you win and awards all achievements and loot the moment you press A on the title screen.

              • I agree. There should be a way for more people to have fun. Not everyone is a sweat. Many people just like jumping around and killing ads without it being a high stress situation. Right now the game feels like work and not play. Or maybe Bungie is trying to get rid of casual and solo players.

                • I doubt they'll make any changes, but if they made just 1 this season, I'd hope for them to tone down the legendary Vexcalibur mission a bit. IMO it should be closer to the legendary version of last season's exotic mission in terms of difficulty.

                • Another of the many things warframe has had for years. You can constantly climb difficulty as high as you desire there. It’s not just automatically forced to be difficult, but if you wanna try tackling level 200+ enemies, you can!

                  • This has been said and requested by the community for years now. I agree, however Bungie can’t seem to hear, read, understand, implement, or execute anything that is close to rational.

                    • Elective difficulty exists, it's legend, master and grandmaster content. And these activities have scaling rewards. The only activities in the game that should be toned down a lil are neomuna patrol, normal vanguard ops playlist, and the seasonal playlist. Everything else is harder elective content.
