Weapon crafting is supposed to be an ALTERNATIVE to weapon god roll acquisition, not a replacement. It was becoming so easy to get the best weapons in the game, that RNG felt meaningless after the deep sight drops. Considering the numerous amount of good available crafted weapons on hand per season, it become more and more about focusing on the best crafted weapons and less about anything else. You’ll still be able to craft the available weapons, and you’ll still be able to appreciate a god roll RNG drop. I literally don’t understand the people upset about this. Jeez.

 • Randomly-rolled copies of weapons becoming "meaningless" just because you have the option to craft them is a problem with yourself, not the system. I know, because I used to have the same problem - the very notion I could craft a gun led me to categorically dismantle every roll I got of it, just for that reason. On one hand, that's probably the right thing to do if you have blueprinted and crafted the weapon. On the other hand, if you haven't crafted the weapon yet, that's the wrong thing to do. I finally realized this around the middle of Season 17. If you do plan to craft a weapon eventually, it's a good idea to still keep the best randomly-rolled copy of it you get in the meantime, since, unfortunately, it's probably going to be a while until you can craft it. If you DON'T plan to craft it, then you really can just keep the best random roll you get and not worry about it. The loss of enhanced perks and mementos is a non-problem, because one, in the present, the former are mostly so weak they're meaningless and the latter are purely cosmetic, and two, in the (very-near) future, random weapon drops will be able to have enhanced perks, levels and masterworks anyways according to the State of the Game. I, Parked and some others are upset at the news that fewer guns will be craftable this year because this optional, innocuous, if unfairly-padded, secondary way to get a gun you want isn't the evil blight on the game people say it is - it's a system ripe with potential that's only now beginning to realize it, but due to majority player feedback, is now getting sidelined. Just as it wasn't fair to people that don't like crafting that getting the best version of a given gun was locked behind crafting (and that "best version" is, as I've explained, of dubious importance to begin with), it isn't fair now to people that do like crafting that, after asking Bungie for more weapons to work with for over a year, we're getting the opposite of that. Sure, while we're still going to get plenty of new weapons to craft period, the excerpt "fewer of our total weapons will be craftable" is very hard to misinterpret. Given how few weapons we've been able to craft over the last four seasons compared to how many are in the game total (that you can't), the idea that we'll be getting even fewer is very, very upsetting.
