Playing warlock as of late is just plain disheartening

So here's my problem with how the warlock plays these days.... Its the same as it always has been, It hasn't -blam!- changed at all. The only reason you play warlock is for either well or stasis turrets. That's it. The light 3.0 updates have barely changed anything for how I play the class, Wanna know why? Because no matter what build I make, no matter how useful it is, or how much healing or buffs or add I control I PUMP OUT. Im always shat on for never using a meta loadout or using a gimmicky weapon combo like thorn and necrotic grips and Lumina and boots of the assembler. Apparently Warlocks are only allowed to carry the damn well with phoenix, starfire or lunafactions, and use bleakwatchers on stasis or else your "a -blam!- liability" Because its all about those dps numbers and not having fun right? The warlocks power fantasy is apparently being in forced servitude to other people your playing with rather than your own enjoyment. Edit 1: A lot of people seem to be missing the main point of my gripe here. My MAIN gripe is that AT BASE warlocks have very few things they can do better than other classes. Think about it this way Look at the void warlock, Its main pulls pre-3.0 were bloom and devour, which were made into fragments and which are accessible via fragments on all classes, These being the most powerful fragments as well, and then you have what the other two classes GET AT BASE ON TOP OF THAT, and that's before you get into exotics. Solar warlock has the well of radiance, which is honestly the only reason why people PLAY this subclass. As the neutral game is trash for the most part and is borderline a -blam!- gimmick for the justification of AE in PVP, and even heat rises has become a gun, aside from the well of radiance the only thing this class can really do well with is grenades, and yet other classes can do just as well if not BETTER because Warlock literally requires the setup to go brr and meanwhile any -blam!- titan could just have a room cleared by using its melee and sunspots ALONE. The shittiest part is if you are not using Starfire or phoenix protocol you are essentially THROWING. The solar subclass may be powerful but it is INCREDIBLY dependent on the usage to use specific things to make up for its lack of proc other parts of the solar 3.0 kit that titans and hunters get simply from their fragments, and phoenix dive becoming a -blam!- class ability is easily the most irritating part of this. For context, Hunters can use the ambush and shatter dive and have all of the benefits that proc from that every couple of seconds. Warlocks gotta wait for a whole -blam!- -blam!- minute for that for some lackluster healing and AOE that can only really be utilized when using heat rises, which is the shittiest -blam!- aspect of the tree that was then MADE INTO A GUN, and while yes the manticore is a -blam!- horrible weapon but the fact remains that it is STILL giving away heat rises. And then there's the arc... OH BOY, where do I begin with this, Let's start with the amplified buff, which actually hurts warlocks more than it helps them, Why? because it -blam!- with how our glides work, as most of the time warlocks are trying to keep their mobility low to make sure they can burst forward. While this is not a super big deal in Pve it can REALLY hurt a warlock player in PVP on the arc subclass. As per tradition the 3.0 subclass, before exotics, only has two real things going for it the arc souls, which are barely effective in endgame PvE, and then the lightning surge melee aspect in PVP. The Supers are still particularly lackluster even after the recent buffs to storm trance. Arc traces being given to every single subclass, you know that thing that made middle tree storm caller so powerful? Give it to the other classes, Arc web? yeah, let's water it down and make it a fragment that synergizes better with the other two classes. Grenades? HAHA Hey look a titan with Heart of innermost light is throwing storm grenades, and a hunter with a -blam!- lightning javelin are over there laughing. "bUT FaLlEN SuNStAR GIVES YoU SO MANY MorE arC tRAcES " "CroWn oF TemPeST MaKEs yOUr sUPEr LAsT ForEver". Bro my point is that 3.0 light subclasses were supposed to open up the door for VARIETY and yet warlocks for some -blam!- reason got snubbed with watered-down versions of their 2.0 subclasses with Arc being somehow WORSE then it's 2.0 versions. Where Titans and hunters get to enjoy their 3.0 offerings, the way warlock has been played at based has not been changed and the fact that we are limited to our exotics while Titans and Hunters can go into most endgame -blam!- without an exotic and still slay our, it their exotics that push it over the top and its almost BRAIN DEAD how little effort it takes to set up. This is why I am saying that it is disheartening, Not for the sake of -blam!- or lack of trying, but because I spent too much time trying to make a build that can put me on the same level of efficient play that I can achieve on Titan or Hunter, But no matter what Titan and Hunter do what warlocks can do BUT BETTER because they have their own unique abilities ON TOP of what warlocks have. Wanna know why I personally love Stasis IN GENERAL? It's because each class has something Unique about itself that makes it superior to others, and yet warlocks get chastised for not using the most meta options available instead of being able to actually experiment with other stuff. When you play warlock, especially in pve, You HAVE TO go with either phoenix protocol well or starfire protocol or YOUR THROWING, You have to go with slova bomb with nezareks sin or YOUR THROWING, you need to go with -blam!- fallen sunstar or else you being on arc is a -blam!- waste of time, Stasis is the only subclass you can really do anything you really want like the majority of the other subclasses on other subclasses. At the end of the day Warlocks do not have the luxury of experimenting with other things because if they aren't using the most meta picks produced by the damn brain trust on youtube, and if you don't use the meta, you are in fact THROWING. I cannot tell you how ANNOYING it is to be told to use the meta option by foreheads who main different classes. This is coming from someone who finds themselves playing with meta slaves ( mainly PVE) a good deal who will literally rail into the ground for not using the most optimal -blam!- out there. So forgive me for feeling a bit salty for having to play the same -blam!- way since forsaken came out and not being -blam!- allowed to try something -blam!- fun for once.

  • Warlocks are bad right now. I’ve stopped playing warlock because I was sick of being tethered to well whenever I played raids. It got annoying. This isn’t helped by the fact that almost all warlock subclasses besides Solar and stasis are bad. Solar isn’t even that good. It heavily relies on well to be good
