30 RepliesEdited by TwelveBz: 12/28/2022 2:45:33 PMThe elites who think trails mean something in a dying game don’t want it. There’s no argument on why there shouldn’t be freelance mode. Nothing good comes out of trials anyway so why gate keep it? They already threw your rewards into engrams. They cry about sbmm because they vs sweats 24/7. They cry when they vs sweat stacks in trials because the solo players are in freelance. This community just crys. Nothing is going to change for the better. Just leave while you still can no point in playing a dead horse game.
Topic body
Trials should be nothing but freelance…no groups…no 3 stacks…

55 RepliesNobody literally nobody can make a coherent argument as to why freelance trials shouldn’t always be available.

17 RepliesI love all these people with flawed logic about what will happen if they remove freelance. They seem to believe that these players will then enter regular trials (to give them easy wins,) when the data proves the opposite. Trials population is 2x-3x the usual on Freelance weeks. Freelance increases the number of players in Trials and is healthy for the game overall. Without freelance, these players will just sit it out, and further decrease player counts and decline the playlist. Trials is trash anyway, and the only thing that makes is remotely tolerable is freelance. Going back to the old style is a proven recipe for disaster and stagnation.

I go even further quickplay as well should have a freelance option.

i dont really get why bungie acts like the population is so low. even on regular weekends queues are less than 15 - 20 seconds usually. PC population anywhere between 70-100k on a good season during peak hours. probably double that for each console population. the game has the population to support it.

Edited by NerdslayerNo1: 12/28/2022 4:48:20 AMThey don't care. They've been told this before. It's had years for them to mull over. They've evaluated it right after introducing it and haven't made it permanent. It's one of the many things that has damaged pvp, pretty much to an irreparable state. Hell Trials isn't a great mode anyways except for streamers.

They are doing away with it

At this point just let the mode die...

Agreed 👍

Agreed!

With the current population and only further deceases in the imminent future, the only choice is one large pool. Remove flawless pool and let random MM take over with a preference for team size.
-
Solo sucks too. Reward structure needs changed to get more playing. Still impossible for most even with freelance

I’m in the middle on this. It would be fun to go in freelance and have fun in trials but I think it would slowly get as sweaty as comp and then kill freelance for everyone. Granted I’m bad at pvp so maybe it will go great forever and it can be a valuable playlist to trials

1 Reply100%. Decided to try Trials this weekend because I like the control variant, but the matchmaking was staggeringly bad as a low-skill solo player. Though maybe all Trials is anymore is top-tier 3 stacks and uh me. Sure felt that way…

1 ReplyEdited by SAXplayer7: 12/27/2022 5:30:47 PMI might have played it yesterday if it was a choice. However.. with numbers so low… it makes sense they want to keep the same pool of people But wait! We don’t need to settle on that… the REASON the population is so low is because it’s an unrewarding and brutally sweaty game mode. If they work on this problem first then other things could change as well

I think the main reason it isn't is because for the second half of trials each week you'd end up with players split too many ways between : flawless pool console, non flawless console, flawless pool PC, non flawless PC, flawless freelance console, non flawless freelance console, flawless freelance PC and non flawless freelance PC. It's just way too much. I do however agree that freelance overall provides alot of health to trials by allowing those without PvP inclined friends to get in and practice, improve and make friends to go into the standard mode with. This is why I believe the right move would be the permanent removal of flawless pool and permanent implementation of freelance. Why remove flawless pool? First it's the only way to include constant freelance without splitting the player base as massively as it currently does and listed above. Secondly unlike freelance it doesn't promote trying the mode, using it to practice or make friends to enter the normal mode. It only promotes waiting as long as possible to have the easiest possible way to flawless therefore reducing potential player numbers for majority of the time it's open. TLDR : freelance should be permanent because it promotes improvement and meeting others to play the normal mode with but it can't be permanent for as long as flawless pool (which only promotes being a coward anyway) is around.

Nah, bungies goal with solo que was for solo players to meet other solos and form teams Be grateful you even have solo que, let alone some freelance weeks and stop thinking thier goal designs were to split the trials playerbase in half and make an entire extra mode for solos.
-
Bungie intend to introduce fireteam based matchmaking to Trials whereby duos and solos will try to match before they match 3’s. They will then remove freelance completely (I hope).

3 RepliesFreelance rumble! Give out rep rewards based on your placement. Winning seven rumble matches in a row might be a bit much for flawless though 🤔 maybe have to accumulate a certain point threshold over 7 matches to go to lighthouse?
-
7 RepliesA lot of people said this and a lot said why it should not like split population etc. one thing is fact based on trials report that during the freelance week the total trials population is usually 2x or 3x that of other weeks. Another thing also fact is that during freelance weeks the regular mode are harder and pre-made teams don’t like that aka give us easier games.

Add freelance, remove flawless pool
