Are you sure you are logging in the correct Epic account while launching the game from Epic?
I did the Cross-Save with Steam and it's working flawlessly, with my Steam characters in the Epic version of the game.

yes i am sure its the same name on the cross save page and on the epic launcher, as i only have 1 epic account anyway
