Honestly your video doesn't help, popping well that close to an enemy person does hurt then an case scorch build up, thats why he died. On your case I have thought witherhoards in a well an killed ppl of that even tho they are in a well, well did get a bit of dmg resistant nerf with solar 3.0, an they made it to were you can shot the sword to break well prematurely. On that same map, go outside pop well with your friend farther so they don't get hit buy the recoil dmg cause buy popping well have him throw a witherhord while his in mid area out of bounds, as when he lands its outside of the map an it kills him then see if that kills you.
