So after playing Rift for a while, and talking to friends and people on the forums, there are some issues with rift I want to talk about: 1: Spawn swapping Whenever the enemy team pushes into your spawn to secure the spark, there is a high likelyhood of your respawn being halfway across the map, removing any chance of you being able to protect your rift. Spawncamping is less of an issue in this gamemode because it is objective based. Can probably just remove spawnswapping outright. 2: Lack of interaction with the runner There is very little interaction with an enemy runner outside of just, you know, killing him. Maybe if we could throw the spark to other guardians, and enemy players could catch it, it would become more interesting? 3: Resetting the field makes it easier to stomp weaker teams and interrupts the flow of the game. Whenever a dunk happens, the players are forcibly reset to their starting positions, instead of, lets say, spawning a new spark after a short duration. So what happens is that after a spawn flip forcibly removing the losing team from their base, the enemy dunks. But now, if the spark just respawned, the losing team would have an excellent chance to just pick it up and run to the enemy base while the enemy is at their base. This would make for more even matches. Resetting just results in the same thing happening over and over, with the stronger team killing the initial spawn wave of the opponent team, grabbing the spark, and pushing into the enemy base. Alternatively, they could make the losing team spawn closer to the rift, giving them an advantage to use to catch up. 4: Long respawn timers While I understand these are to encourage teamplay and revives, they more often result in the steamrolling team being able to instantly push into an enemy spawn after taking out most of the enemy players. You cannot revive someone if you too are dead. It also increases the difference between a 4-6 stacked group of players (who will revive each other) and playing solo or with one buddy. Consider reducing the revive in general, or making the revives shorter for the losing team. 5: Unbalanced matches take too long While rift is very fun if you have good back-and-forths with the enemy team, being in a match where you are clearly losing is very painful. And with how long each round tends to last, the matches tend to go for too long. Consider reducing the rounds won needed down from five to three. 6: Bugs Why the hell can the spark despawn? Is there no check for if there is no spark on the field every 5 seconds or something? If you pick up the spark at the same frame (server side! which is low FPS so this is not that hard!) as you die, it simply despawns, giving a default win to whichever team has more points, and forcing a simple PvP deathmatch until the timer runs out. This one needs to be looked at ASAP.
