For God sake Bungie! Stop linking quest steps and catalysts to PVP and guardian kills.
For crying out loud. Please cater for the large number of people who don't (won't) play PVP and STOP linking quest steps and catalysts to PVP and/or guardian kills. PLEASE give those non-PVP players some other means of achieving step/catalyst requirements.
First thing I noticed after purchasing the new Season pass was that the Catalyst for the Cryosthesia requires 50 guardian kills. FFS!!!!! Another weapon I won't be getting the catalyst for!!!!! Talk about a kick in the guts 30 mins after joining the new season
EDIT: I'm a 51yr old man with poor eyesight and bad reflexes which makes PVP an absolute fricken nightmare. There's absolutely nothing enjoyable about having your @ss handed to you on a platter time-and-time again trying to play PVP to meet step/catalyst requirements. It's humiliating and degrading being pounded by good PVP players (and the match making system sucks b@lls!). The closest I get is Gambit as 99% of that is team play with the occasional raid by a guardian.
EDIT 2021-05-14: So scorched seems to give kills and that version of PVP is actually not too bad and something I can play (got 8 kills last night lol). Doesn't help with those steps/catalysts that require kills with specific weapons though

Rat King and Drang are the best sidearms imo but that's cause their perks are really good or synergize with another exotic. But the thing is this stasis sidearm is nowhere the near the level of those ones and in a sandbox that is dominated by shotguns, sniper rifles, 120/140 hand cannons, auto rifles, the DMT scout rifle (provided you have the catalyst unlocked for it), etc. all of which have a faster TTK then this exotic sidearm i can see people having the difficulty getting kills for this catalyst.
