Vex on the mind! I have questions that only lore junkies can anwser!

I am going to ask questions for ever race so I don't have to later. Vex can copy and store brain waves of other creatures, including sentient species, not just in their structures, but within themselves, allowing ghe vex to relive and act like the brain waves act yes? Hypothetically if a vex were to take mutiple brain waves, they could use them to create their own little personality, with much better speech capabilities, but also act out the individual personalities it has yes? Vex make minds for things like this, so what would a mind that does this be called? Ik there was story with the first friendly vex, but is there any for the second found on europa yet? Or is it the same harpy? I have more but they lay just out of reach!....

  • I see Vex communication barriers like this: You see an ant hill. A trail of ants are working on a piece of candy that someone dropped. You want to redirect the ants, without harming them. You could move the candy. Ants can smell these things for literally two miles. Of course if you move it too far, the ants will consider it a low to no priority task and ignore it. You could disturb the earth or add obstacles in their path, which could harm them depending on the method. You could use some innocuous chemical (spray deodorant for example) and disrupt their line of communication with each other. You run the risk of permanently blinding them chemically. And then you could send a fake signal. You’ll need analyzing equipment to determine the correct combination of chemicals and pheromones, you’ll need to replicate this concoction and finally you’ll need extremely small amounts in a minute delivery system or you’ll just end up blinding them. Now that I’ve said this, it should be no myster why the Vex either ignore us or just shoot us on sight. We are ants to them.

  • I haven’t done the Sturm quest in a while, but wasn’t the friendly harpy literally captain whoever-the--blam!- uploading his brain into a harpy?

  • Any kind of intelligence created by the vex wouldn’t likely be used for more than a proxy to communicate with us. The minds are created as a form of overseer tasked with managing operations and projects. If we encountering what your describing it would either be an anomaly in the vex network or a tool being used to interact with us more directly.

For example the Nexus Mind was built to oversee the conversion of Venus into a Vex world. It’s very unlikely to be the same Harpy from Nessus. I imagine it’s more of a gameplay thing rather than a lore thing.

    • That friendly harpy on europa is the same as the Nessus adventure aka the old exodus black captain.

      • Echoing mind i would assume would be the name, and while it could feasibley do such a thing the entire netork it was connected to would be what it actually would use to communicate, assuming it wanted to. Assimilating a language and personality doesnt make a vex change,

        • Technically there is a whole spectrum of vex, I mean we have met the friendly captain Jacobs not too mention that the vex were actually friendly to our ghost in one of the adventures on nessus, however they attacked us since we weren't machines. Calus even mentioned that the vex we face are managers and maintenance workers and that we have yet to face vex warriors. Also in lore we have seen that the vex who serve in the garden oppose other vex.

        • In destiny 1, the vex lured us to the vault of glass to clear it of the taken. They did not fire on us as the door to the vault opened, yet they seemed to almost salute us. Don't mistake their passiveness as friendship, they act on probabilities and if the greatest chance of victory is through some sort of work with us, they will take it. In terms to your question: it is entirely possible to simulate a person and personality. I would name it a "deceptive mind", a mind made to simulate us without being in anyway tied to us.
